Depends how rigorous one's definition of "decent" is. If you mean "competent professional footballer" then yes, just about, but if you mean "international class centre half for top 8 country", then no. Whilst accepting he seems to be inconvenienced by his back he's looked slow (the way Gerrard, not a renowned whippet, outstripped him was frightening), positionally suspect and as prone to the eff up as he ever was.

The scary thing is we don't have any other serious options I can see
.

Haha yeah, was going to mention Dawson, playing much better than Rio at the moment. Wish we could have Ledley King playing as well WAG.

Norwood's on Fire
Yeah, think he's past his best now. Shame he retired from internationals when he did though as I think he could have done a job for us in the ill-fated McClaren era.

Infostrada Sports on Twitter: "Arsenal start a Premier League match with more than two English players for the first time in over five years."

How long have Arsenal been trophyless?

One of the most annoying cliches in sport.

The team who finishes on the most points deserves it. End of story.
Yeah, I have to agree here. I find it very annoying when you hear people say "we deserved to win" after they have either lost or drawn.

Re: Today. What a sham, such a stupid performance. Well done Wigan. But I honestly believe that I would do a better job than Fabianski, I struggle to comprehend how somebody who is a "professional footballer" can be so regularly dreadful.

Hmm, disagree there but that's another matter.
Anyone else here the rumours about Joe Hart being available for £8m? Make it happen Wenger.

Well for me, with the exception of you ending up being defeated by virtue of something totally beyond your control, or being cheated or something, if you win you deserve it, and if you deserve to win you will.

Take for example, a team has one shot on target all match, and win 1-0, but spend the majority of the match under constant pressure and the other side hit the post or whatever about 10 times. This is usually a prime example of when the phrase "we deserved to win" appears. But why did they deserve to win? They did not do enough to win the match, you win by scoring goals, not by creating endless chances and spurning them. This is not to say it is wrong to state that you were "unlucky" or that a team "should have won", but to say they deserved to when over the course of a match they did not do enough gain the victory is just wrong as a matter of fact, imho.

But yes, let's have Joe Hart please, or the lad from Brentford back, getting fed up with the two we have currently.
