Ah yeah, one of those types. Probably explains why he's never really nailed down a spot. Seems a pretty hot and cold player though, mind.
Yeah, he's a very "simple player", relies on his eye a lot. Never really looks out of form, just gets out! Which he spent the whole first half of this year doing (until he played Camberwell Magpies  )

Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. Have seen him coasting along a few times looking real good then just seems to have a brain explosion and get out. Doesn't seem much wrong with his game ability-wise.

Pretty suprised Warner stayed, tbh. Thought we'd be the last of the 6 states he went to - maybe Thornely will be shown the door now?
Hope so.

Perhaps Warner didnt' want to move away from family and friends? Maybe he got a guaranteed number of FC games next season?

No way he would have got a guarantee on games for next summer. He's from a pretty close-knit family though, and is pretty established is Sydney, so it's hard to move away from - the bloke is only 23-24 so staying home is pretty understandable.

Finch has bolted down hodges position at no 3 i gather quiney will be looking around, especially since he has no spot in the one dayers and 20/20 nailed down.
Gather thornley would be looking over his shoulder a bit,had a poor season in grade.

Yeah it would have been good for QLD to get Warner especially in the shorter formats. We need an aggressive OD opener, Broad and Hartley isn't that good an opening partnership.

Quiney or Thornely, yes. They're perhaps not as naturally brilliant as Cosgrove is but Cosgrove has a a litany of discipline/fitness problems and is terribly inconsistent. You may be right, though; he's still young enough that maybe someone would take a chance on him.

SA would probably want to hold onto him too, to see some R on pretty significant I.

Can pretty much set your watch to the Cosgrove rumour at this time every year I reckon. Apparently he was reasonably close to going to Queensland last summer.

Any further news on Denton and Victoria? Also, is the Casson going back to WA just a suggestion of what could happen or concrete rumour? He didn't play grade after Christmas for Gordon, not sure if he was injured or just took some time off the game to clear his head. His whole treatment has been pretty shameful on behalf of CA. Did highlight the flaws of picking a development player on a Test match tour, though. When MacGill went down he had to play.

No news on cason but he has stuff all for 2 seasons, hard to justify a contract.
Dunno why he didn't play for gordon, wonder if he will play in darwin again.
No more on denton tassie keen to keep him for the one dayers.

Would have thought he won't play in Darwin again, possibly just trying to et away from cricket for a while, or has a long-term injury that kept him out for second half of summer. Funny thing is he ended up scoring a fair amount of runs in grade in the first half of the summer, could be looking at taking some pressure off his bowling by developing his batting.

Brockley, your mail is always strong on this sort of stuff, any talk of who will be de-listed around the states? Links?

No idea but looking at queenslands squad with many emerging players i expect a lot of old hands from qld to get cut.
Qlds' problem a lot of players like phillipson, reardon, mcermott and rimmington don't play first clas cricket.
It will be quite a struggle for them.
No names yet.
I'd say grant moller despite his promise will get cut, maybe a good pick up by another state.

Yeah a bit tough for Queensland with the spread of FC and OD players probably greater than the other states. Phillipson, Reardon and Rimmington all real good OD players though so expecting them to hold their spots, think McDermott will end up playing a fair bit of first class cricket, just waiting for him to develop a bit more I'd imagine.

They would kill for a top and middle order banker though, they seem to get quick bowlers coming from nowhere every summer. Will be interesting to see what the plan with Ben Laughlin is - one of the most suprising Aussie selections this time last year.
