Well when Taylor left we were 4 down and trailing by 400. I'm not exactly sure how you can put a positive spin on something like that.
You just ripped on Taylor for not being able to ride out pressure, almost every innings he comes out at 2 for SFA and still has an average of 42ish although it would've been nice for him to go on, you cant say he doesn't deal with pressure well

He certainly doesn't have an issue with playing well when the team is struggling. But in a more individual way, if the bowlers are able to keep it tight and make him play and miss a few times, then he can quickly lose his composure.

You could see it happening quite clearly today, particularly with Johnson bowling to him. Started out with a few boundaries and looked fantastic. Then the bowlers just started putting it in the right areas and dried up his scoring options. A couple of plays and misses and a continued failure to turn over the strike, and you could see his confidence, and consequently his timing and control, melt away. Unlike Clarke and North yesterday, who succesfully waited things out until the bowlers tired and started presenting scoring opportunities, Taylor succumbed.

It's in his nature to try and impose himself on the opposition bowlers, which certainly isn't a bad thing. But it leaves him vulnerable at times to good steady bowling, which he should be better than.

This looks like the poorest NZ batting line up I have ever seen. Must be on a par with the Bangla boys and the Zimbabs.

The way they are looking Vettori would get in the team as a specialist batsman!

True, but over the past couple of years, Vettori would get into a lot of teams as a specialist bat.

We have three batsman who are decent. Taylor Vettori and McCullum. 3 out of the top 7 is pretty weak.

Who knows maybe this will be Guptil's break through inning.

NZ cricket should have tried to have kept Fleming going until he was like 40. Styris' retirement isn't helpful either.

Watched the highlights. Have hardly seen Clarke play such aesthetic shots as he was first hour this morning (which is saying a bit), shame I missed it.

Not just Fleming - what about McMillan and Astle? They both retired before they really wanted to.

Agree re Guptil. 2 issues in NZ cricket - inconsistent - great for 1 or 2 sessions but not sustaining the pressure. Also, in Oz when one batsman fails, another albeit Ponting, Clarke, North, Hussey, Katich or Watson or even Mich Johnson will step up and make a century. Doesn't often happen in NZ.

BTW - you can't expect Daniel Vettori to make hundreds - the 5 guys above him should be doing that.

i think we should take a break from test cricket until we sort the team out. performances like this just turn people off cricket..

Grrr. 47 overs, bowlers take 3 wickets and you're 108-4. How come Guptill is so criminally useless at rotating the strike? 19* off 94 and 14 of those are boundaries. Mind the rest of the lineup doesn't seem to be much better in that regard.

Do the world a favour and fluke a win then rub in that nilwitted chimp's face.
