Is Williamson truly bad at going over the top during the power play. I was listening into the radio last year and it appeared that he was having trouble finding the fence during one inning when ND needed him to.
But how can he be making all these runs for ND if he can't loft over the infield. The other teams would figure him out eventually. His SR in list A is 77 which isn't bad I guess.

Also Greatbatch said if Williamson keeps it up he might get a winter tour. Which I thought meant an A team tour - then I noticed that we do have some blackcaps activity planned.

Are we really going to be playing Zimbabwe?

I'm an outsider on the whole Broom issue, but could it possibly be that having had such a bad trot in the ODIs the selectors don't want to pick him in the Test side now when he's more than likely low on confidence and risk him having a shocking start to his career which he may not be able to recover from for years? If he's as good as I'm lead to believe, surely a spell in domestic cricket will see him getting a ton of runs and then when the next Test squads are being selected, he's more likely to be able to come in and make a success of himself?

Great news. Without a doubt going to have a fantastic career.

Hope he doesn't play though, not quite the finished product yet. Good chance to get to know the Australian team, receive some top class training, run the drinks around.

Yeah this sounds like a good move.

Wouldn't mind seeing Williamson get a similar chance for NZ soon.

Indeed; it's just that he's scored a tonne of runs this season too and it's nearly over. Unless he gets a call up for the second test or there are injuries for NZ's winter games, he'll have to wait until 10/11 season to prove himself again.

He's done the work and imo should make the team.

Can't wait for the 1st Test to begin. Shame it's only 2 though :(

Yeah it doesn't seem right. Mind you South Africa just played India in a two Test series, I mean WTF :huh:

No doubt Oram will be in and around the squad so Styris and Elliott would probably be fighting for one place. Watling, Nathan McCullum and Darryl Tuffey to make up the rest of the 15.

McCullums pretty much said he will continue to open - and drop the keeping (unfortuantely)

Whether or not he improves is another matter but a batsmen can't be making quick 40's and 50's every once and awhile as well as making nothing in large chunks. Until Brendon McCullum starts making 100's opening the batting I can't see it happening tbh.

certinally not argueing that i want to see McCullum play as a specialist bat - to say he has to score 100's to make the NZ batting lineup is laughable.
