Will NSW really want to keep Casson?

Warner may well head to Victoria. Not sure, if he does, that it will be the best place for him to get himself a Sheffield Shield spot. Unless Jewell considers retiring; he has been taking a very active role down at Frankston Peninsula where he has been coaching this year.

Vic,victoria always looks to add to their squad, which is why victoria is named as an interested party, apart from a opener brad hodge retired from first class cricket, and chris rogers needs an opener in the one dayers.
Vics could fill those gaps with the talent they have, but as said they have come in with an offer to warner.
Warner likely to go to a state thats a winner, and well with qlds batting vics likely to win the sheffield shield.
Also you have huss and white called up for games, and maybe mcdonald.
I can't see him going to qld or anyone else but than the vics.
Ship will be in his ear for the next 6 weeks.
One thing for sure warner going.
Casson will probably head back to the waca with opening arms at the waca, heal can't seal the deal.
Wonder where the vics will fit keith in,in the one dayers and t20.

Think that they'll just guarantee Keath a rookie contract and every Futures game. He hasn't even played five first grade games yet, so he'll need to ground himself there after he finishes his school, with some 2nd XI games here and there.

They have offered him a 3 year contract 50 tou a season(herald sun),see them fast tacking him, wouldn't be surprised if he tours the championships league later this year.
Vics definitely look to fatten up their squad, even if they have the players.
Will be interested to see if denton makes the trip across to the vics, vics have had a troublesome season with bowler injuries.
BTW they have not made warner an off yet,he still contracted to nsw.
They have just stated their interest in him.
NSW signed trent copeland to a 3 year deal, good stuff.

Any chance of travis birt going back vic,he must be so sick of not playing first class cricket at tassie?.
Yeh heard ridgeway say that.
How did rummans do at the saints this year?

I'd be surprised if they got Birt. If Victoria did go out and get Birt, it'd be a bit of a kick in the guts for the young guys that we've tried to develop. They've had Hill in the system for a long time now, and would be looking at blooding him soonish, slowly giving him chances like what they've done with Finch. I think Victoria may be a bit gun shy, as there has been a lot of criticism about for their treatment of the keeping situation, and losing Ludeman. If Birt were to come, you could well lose Blizzard and/or Hill.

Ridgway is at Casey-South Melbourne now, not at the Saints. He was starting up a bit of talk that they'd get their hands on him, but St Kilda looks the most likely if he comes back.

Rummans, leading run scorer in Grade Cricket this year; not much changes. St Kilda finished on top, despite him being the only guy to score consistent runs.

With hodge, huss and mcdonald to lose contracts this season, vics will have to find cash to keep them, mckay will get a contract, but you wouldn't pay brad hodge 50 grand even if its just to play one dayers and t20,he will still ask for a top tier contract or he will threaten to jump ship.
Macca, huss and hodgey will cost serious cash, dunno if they will have the cash warner wants(remembering CA doesn't contract t20 players) and keep some of their promising players.
It will be a tight squeeze for nsw, vics and qld this year.
For nsw i would release both clark and brakken, brakken ok one dayers but won't make it through a 4 dayer and clark done stuff all this year ecept for 1 game vs wa.
Actually think clark is at an end to be honest.
Shame rummans could never transplant that form in first class cricket,if there was a canberra comets team he could still be playing.

Is anyone else following the QLD vs. WA match.

I was annoyed at Cricinfo's heading yesterday when it basically said Lynn's innings was not enough for Bulls. QLD were 6 out at the close of play and 25 or so ahead. Some of QLD's most consistent batsman Swan, Feldman, Cutting were still to bat and Lynn was still in, I thought it was a strange call, especially as QLD has shown they can take 10 wickets quickly and WA has cracked under pressure on several occasions this year.

Anyways, WA are 6/37 and need 68 more runs to win. Marcus North gone first ball, I'm gutted that he's touring NZ.

3 points/questions I would like to make:

* NSW will not release Clark.
* WHY do you always spell Bracken's name incorrectly?
* Also why will it be a tight squeeze for QLD this year?

Clark ok.
Dunno why spell brakkens name wrong, despite my arts degree my spelling is ****.
Qld have a lot of batsmen and bowlers on contract, new emerging fast bowlers walters, feldman, mcdermott (on rookie contract),emerging batsmen like lynn(already qld have 8 batsmen in their squad),the qld keeper who played kfc cup.
In other words lot of talent to sign, like nsw.
Maybe batticotto, kruger, moller, laughlin and sullivan to miss contracts.
Gather qld will give cam boyce a contract.

Steve Smith 7-fer.

Wait for the media to get completely and utterly worked up about it.

Happy to see him do well - just give him time to develop as a bowler before expecting too much from him with the ball.

Wow I did not see this coming. I just hope the selectors don't rush him in terms of bowling. Use him as the number 6 batsmen.

Im sure thats their plan, though North would be feeling the pressure even more as a result of the 7wi and the hundred.

North by comparison made 8 and 0 and took 0/23 for the match.

Smith also took 3 catches to North's 1.

I'd be pretty upset if I was North and got told he was dropped because Smith took more catches than him in the last Shield game

Reckon we might also show the door to some older bowlers to keep the youngsters. Wouldn't be surprised if Lee, Clark and Bracken are all cut.
I reckon we'll try to push Bracken and Lee into FC retirement. But we wouldn't completely get rid of them. They might want to contiune playing FC though and move states. I think Bird will be gone, given all the troubles with his action and all. Good for the BigBash, but if we have Lee for that....Hopefully Lambert will be gone, Mail's already gone. Cameron and ****ley might be thinking about moving states too. No idea about the rookies.

Will NSW really want to keep Casson?
Maybe as a batsman....

Mark Cameron and ****ley will be on the books next summer for sure - only chance would be if Cameron retires; he's had a real bad back for quite a while now.

Reckon Casson might hold onto his state contract, not sure if he is out injured b ut hasn't been playing grade cricket for a while. Hopefully he is just having a rest from cricket to get his head right - gotta feel for the bloke and the way he got handled. Really hope that NSW don't cast him away after investing in him for a few summers. One of the saddest cricket stories I can remember.

Warner won't be around next summer in NSW one feels.

Did Lee's Test retirement include FC cricket? Makes no sense for him to keep playing that format anyway so would be suprised if he volunteered. Bracken may move states, but can't see much interest anywhere for him to be honest unless it was Perth. Think he is pretty set in Sydney though, if he can do IPL etc. he'll have enough bowling to get by. Handy enough at domestic level anyway.

Reckon Thornley might be in a bit of danger at seasons end though. Hopefully Daniel Smith falls well behind Nevill now after he took his chance in the Shield game. Hopefully A Crosthwaite is considered ahead of him too.

By and large though, NSW won't have too many changes I reckon. No one but the usual faces bashing down the door in grade cricket.

TBF, Smith's one of the most exciting fielders I've ever seen. Pretty much want him in the team just so I can watch him in the field.

Oh yeah. NSW wouldn't even think about getting rid of them, just throwing around the possibility of Cameron and ****ley moving elsewhere at their own accord.

Thought we treated Thornley pretty badly this season tbh. He should have played much more games this season than he did.

Or maybe I'm just bias 'cause I really like Dom (rangas have gotta stick together and all) while I really dislike Lambert.
