Haha, I love how on that DVD they edit out the fan running into the ring and Eddie trying to beat him down. But you're right, absolutely great match, iirc there is one nasty botch where the ladder falls down on it's side and Eddie falls on top of it. The Sunset flip powerbomb though, that was epic. Argaubly the finest match either of them had whilst in the WWE.
Yeah rumour has it that Rob worked that much a fair bit baked. Probaby the one thing that ****s me about the guy(not that he does smoke) is how ridiculously negligent and dangerous some of the stuff he did.

Also one other thing I noticed about the match was seeing Lawler as a heel commentator. Just so much better, he was actualy funny back then. This face-face combination stuff is ridiculously boring for me. Remember during a Booker T match where King impied that JR was impotent and JR retorted something along the lines of "Probably a good thing seeing what happens to you", going back to the whole Lawler and the 14 year old chick he was rumoured to have boned. Haven't actually laughed during a match for a long long time.

That was Eddie/Edge IIRC, unless they both had that spot.
Was a regular Eddie spot in these sorts of matches iirc. I remember it was quite amusingly botched in the Rey/Eddie "I'm your Papi" match when Rey didn't fall off the ladder until 3-4 seconds after Eddie had already hit the deck.

Completely agree about King. I used to love how he would always say how great HHH was and how much he thought the Rock or Jericho were idiots, and the banter he and JR used to have was great like you say. Generally though colour commentary these days seems a bit pointless to me. Matt Striker is pretty good, but the rest of the WWE lot do nothing apart from say how great everyone is etc... Bring back JBL imo, he was great too, not least because he actually managed to make everyone look credible and actually made wrasslin' in general look and sound like a legit sport.

Yeah I find that with a face-heel combo you actually get to put over both wrestlers in the ring and add to whatever feud you have (the entire function of commentators). Just hearing people continually agree with each other and laugh at 12 year old scripted jokes is prett horrid.

EDIT: Bradshaw was awesome as well, he is really well educated and well spoken he adds a different dimension to the whole scene. He made great references to current events and went against the whole redneck dumbass grain of wrestling. Really liked him as heel colour.

Striker plays the heel role on colour, he's the best in the business by far. Other than that, agree 100%.One of the things I loved so much about the NXT debut was Cole's commentary, his best work ever because he was just in support of the pros and therefore effectively heel.

But yeah, as ever you show that you don't watch Smackdown :p

Haha, hats off to the E for finding a new way this year to hype up Taker's match, am genuinely intruiged to see how this will pan out. Not sure who I want to win actually, let alone who I think will win.

It's a no-brainer, **** the streak

And yeah, sure someone could find a post from me saying if the streak ever ends, give it to a young guy. I was talking bollocks. Give it to Shawn. Greatest of all-time.

I think he'll lose and I don't quite know what to do. He does have a splendid new DVD out though.

The fact that it could be the end of Shawn's career is so very nearly enough for me to buy it.
Not that my arsehole of a stepdad would be having any of it though :(

Haha, I think Taker will win, though for once I wouldn't rule out him losing. That said, no matter what the result is, both he and Shawn will be gone from the E for at least 6 months after WM anyway. I also think that both Shawn and Taker will be gone for good within the next 1-2 years anyway. What seems likely to me, is Shawn being "fired" after losing this match, and then returning through some "special deal" around Summerslam in some run up to WM 27 where he will actually retire, Taker probably bowing out around then as well. Interesting times though, like I said earlier, not cared this much about a storyline for aaages.

You can buy an official stream from WWE.com although they are a bit overpriced and you have to pay in US dollars. Can't watch it on Foxtel PPV?

I was going to order the official stream for Elimination Chamber, but I don't have a credit card they accept, sad times, but saved me some money I guess.

Can you do that in the UK? I thought you had to buy it on SBO

Where are you watching Mania?

WTF is SBO? And yeah maybe it's not available in the UK, no idea tbh.

Haha, am not sure yet, do not yet rule me out of coming to yours, but the whole train situation is making it financially tricky. I will attempt to get a better ticket price from the station when I am next there, but at the moment it is looking a bit too pricey, which is very dissapointing itbt :( Failing that...I honestly don't know actually...might have to do a stream job again.

Just get it from a torrent, there usually available by Monday afternoon, stay away from spoilers and your laughing.

I'm just settling down to WM 2000. Not a classic Mania but I am working through all of the PPVs from 2000 onwards (slowly) Have watched 2000 in the wrong order but will do from post X-Seven chronologically. Yeah, I'm a geek, but meh. Anyway, expect some random post on the great moments

Such as, what a voice Lilian has.

Oh and it's crazy watching these old Mania in normal-sized arenas. I very much enjoy the massive outdoor extravaganzas they put on nowadays, can only see MSG getting it of the smaller arenas from now on.
