*Official* Zimbabwe in West Indies

Great. So we scraped a win against Zimbabwe to make it 1-1.

Now for the last 3 ODI's Sarwan and Bravo should be back. It would be nice if we got a decent pitch to play on and took first strike for once.

Yeessssssssss finally we've won a bloody match!!! , did Zim really think they wasn't gonna get a fight after the last two games? not on our turf lads!!!! .

Now we've got to move forward from here, hopefully the wicketkeeper situation will be looked at, and i think Pollard might be in trouble after Gayle looked so pissed at him!!! LOL, it's gonna be very interesting to see what happens with the selection now, Sarwan will be back which will be a massive bonus, also gotta give credit to Gayle, i've slagged him off but he stood up today, Deonarine was also a hero for us and i think he's got a big future in our test side.

I don't know about you but i'm a WINDIE FAN, so i'll celebrate a victory any way i like thanks 8-) .
Shouldn't be losing to Zimbabwe as we did. Players not doing rubbish is to be expected not cheered. Not underestimating the opposition but should have easily won the first game.

WE HAVEN'T WON FOR 13 STRAIGHT GAMES!!, we finally win one against a side who's high on confidence and has the perfect bowling conditions for their bowlers but oh no "lets moan and groan" as usual!! 8-) , what's the point in supporting the team if you can't be happy when we win?.

One swallow does not a summer make. Some players are still doing wrong things. I am happy but it's meh to me as most of those losses were with an awful set of players.

Look man there's still Sarwan, Bravo and Taylor to add to the mix too!!!, todays team was not our best side by a long way, i was delighted to see the likes of Deonarine stand up and make a name for himself too, Gibson ain't a fool he'll seperate the clowns from the class acts.

Sooo, West Indies scrape a win but Zimbabwe try to make a game out of it. Still expecting the Zimbos to lose now Sarwan and Bravo are back.

The t20 side they beat was made up of youngsters in the main, the side they barely beat yesterday just had Gayle and Deonarine back, looking at it with open eyes we are missing

Dwayne Bravo
Sarwan
Taylor
Edwards

That's half a side there and very important players to be honest, i don't believe for one second we would have lost yesterday with these guys in the team, the current group aren't the most confident bunch at the moment either so that's had a role to play too, make no mistake though they better get it right on Saturday or else there will be hell to pay!!!.
So the answer to my question is yes, this is a "proper" WI selection aside from injured players.

NZ are beating Australia atm with more front-liners than that out

We've also got players who have just come back from injury lay offs like Barath, Benn and Chanderpaul so lack of match fitness is also another excuse!! .

Good to see Deonarine getting runs, to show Pollard how it's done in the 50-overs game....

Fletcher is useless, unfortunately. Maybe the message has been sent, and Ramdin has a chance to reclaim his place in St Vincent.

Without Gayle, the Windies would've lost this match big time. That is a big concern for the West Indies right now....

Hopefully, as Beamer and Windie have said, the return of Sarwan and Big Bravo for the next three ODIs will take some of the pressure off Gayle and Shiv. Aside from Deonarine, none of the other young batsmen are stepping up to the plate.

It just goes to show that to beat Zimbabwe, the WI need to field their strongest team, and can't joke around fielding young sides to get experience. Sorry, Derryck Murray....

Good to hear Sarwan & Bravo are likely to return.

What about Taylor & Edwards?

Man, I do hope the Windies get their act together and get all players fit and available, before the Saffies come touring.

JT is going to be back for the SA series but Fidel is out for a year or more.

Wasn't it the "seniors" who were messing up in the first place? you know people like Ramdin, Smith, Shiv (in the t20), Rampaul etc? it can work both ways Mike.

Which is why Gibson should make it his mission to find a new fast bowler soon, i'd like to see someone like Delorn Johnson given a try, yes he's only just made his FC debut for Winwards this season but he's a big 6.6 lefty who bowls a very good line, i think that left arm option alongiside Roach, Taylor and Bravo would complete our pace attack, i also hope Gibbo is prepard to look at Khan and Kantasingh too, i really think Kantasingh is a very good talent in the making.

I agree that Imran Khan is well worth a look, especially in the longer form of the game. As for the fast bowlers, it really is difficult as the only one who demands selection after his performance this season is Pedro Collins and I am reluctant to support someone who turned their back on West Indies selection just 2 years ago.

I think Gibson should try and find the time to organise a fast bowling camp where he can have a really good look at several candidates and give them fitness programmes, goals to aspire too etc. The likes of Bess, Gabriel, McLean, Bennett, Pascal, Dawes, Russell and Holder would all benefit from something like that and Gibson could get more of an idea of what they could bring to the table.

In terms of express fast bowlers, Pascal (when in good rythm), Bess and Gabriel are the most promising but they simply have not done enhough to earn selection. I agree that Delorn Johnson is a good prospect who has been disadvantaged by politics in the Windward Islands system but we simply can't pick him yet, left arm angle or not. If he comes back next year and dominates than fair enough but he certainly should not be chosen yet.
