Well that's the internet me. In real life I am so charming that SS walked me to my car.
Hey, I object! I paid for the beer, but I totally talked about science. I distinctly remember it...didn't I?

I don't know if they transform into another person, but people are a lot nicer in person. Manan paid for my beer and never talked about science.
You realize that I only paid for the beer and walked you to the car because I was hoping we'd make out.

And also, I'm nice on the internet too!

No, it isn't, actually. People don't transform into another person to do forum posting. And unless you're suggesting that someone posts posts for someone else in their name (so, for instance, that I'm not actually Richard Dickinson but someone posting pretending to be me) then that's the only way someone posting forum posts could be different from the person who is posting those same posts.
Disagree, a lot of people act differently when posting than they would in real life

Yeah, people just come across differently too. I think a lot of posts that seem unnecessarily aggro online would feel much friendlier and less serious in real life.

Mitchell is way different in real life, for example. I'm pretty sure Richard's met him so I'd be surprised if he disagreed.

He's much nicer, FTR, than the arrogant SOB he comes off as online :p

Though even in real life you're different with family, friends, strangers etc. I imagine if you spent a lot more time with posters in real life their real life personality and behavior would be closer to their online persona. I'm trying to not say too much as when I survey everyone here for my thesis I don't want the sample to be contaminated, but it might be too late :(

So what you're basically saying is if I met you once I'd think you were decent, but if I got to know you properly I'd hate you?

Loving this last page tbh - bringing the lols.

Ftr, I'm the same suave, debonair, intelligent, charming, youthful Adonis in real life that you all think I am on here .
