Agreed, But Howards only qualification is not just PM.
So what is his qualification as a Cricket Administrator ? Please understand that I have no problem with Howard in the ICC, I believe that If Mr. Pawar can be there, then so can Howard.

Sharad Pawar was president of Mumbai Cricket Association 2001 & on, BCCI president 2005 (fuzzy about the dates) & on and then went on to ICC. Before his MCA stint, he had been active in the administration of other lower profile sports in Maharashtra. So, he does have a > 20 year sports administration record of increasing responsibility, 8 of them in cricket prior to the ICC gig.

Sanz I gave my opinion, I'm not going to get into a petty little arguement where someone claims that running a company or being the treasurer of a nation is different to being president of a cricket board. If you or anyone else thinks that the skill set required to oversee a cricket board is totally different to managing a whole country then so be it.

One of the major tasks of the position is to deal with the boards of each country and in this field Howard is so far ahead of Anderson it just foolish to discuss it. Another task is to oversee the security arrangements for ICC events something that Anderson has no knowledge of but Howard has so much experience here it boggles the mind.

I could go on but its not even worth argueing because some people just cant see the trees for the forest.

Oh please, don't quote the wikipedia here. Please list of his achievements as a cricket administrator or for that matter kho-kho administrator.

I'm guesing that John Anderson has a tiny bit of background in it, considering that he's been the chairman of NZ Cricket for 15 years, and has been on the ICC executive.

Could you be more clearer what you mean by "achievements"? Mumbai won Ranji trophies when he was Prez am not sure that is the kind you are looking for.

I have no doubt he has but this would be minescule compared to Howards experience in dealing with leaders of countries and far more complex issues than organising a cricket series.

I'm willing to listen to any reasonable discussion about where Anderson may be more skilled than Howard but to say just because he was chairman of NZ Cricket for 15 years, and has been on the ICC executive really dosent cut the mustard for me. i'm sorry but I dont think many people know what the job entails and have just taken the opportunity to jump on the bandwagon to take potshots at Howard. Some of these people are even refering back to 1980 and even then have got it completely wrong.

I don't think he realises what he is getting into. This is not some politcal party full of easily manipulated dolts seeking an easy life and a pension. The infighting and self interest will make the Liberal party look like a nursing home tea party.
Good luck John you'll need it.

That's seriously unfair. I think you've raised good points, but you're not really respecting others who disagree.

He definitely trolled at the start of the thread, and I laid into him for that. He has now put forward an argument for Howard, and that's fair enough.

But **** me dead not everyone is an anti-Howard poster, and even if they are, most of them are Australians anyway!!!

Many international posters wouldn't know much about Howard, just like many Australians don't know much about Pawar from India.

Let him head it. Its an inconsequential post. He'll soon realise that any experience dealing with world leaders has no relevance to a job where the only decisions he'll be enttiled to make independantly are on the location of the next ICC meeting, and the menu to be served.
