So would any of you armchair critics would you have given Shawcross a red card if you saw it live and had no replays or any hindsight? I bet you would of.

Difficult to say, given how much I'd heard about the challenge before seeing it and the fact that the ref had a much better view. I'd try not to let the end result (Ramsey's injury) sway my decision though.

It's just horrible IMO. The leg's swinging down from very high to high. Wasn't like the ball was bouncing or anything, he's gone well over the top.
Isn't that the exact trajectory your leg takes when you kick a football though?

Yeah whilst standing, Shawcross was in some horrible lunging, crouching, sidewards swing.

Last time I checked you don't kick a rolling ball at shin height though.

Think about it though. If I tried to kick a ball and you slid in and took possession before I got the chance, would I kick you on the foot? Catching you on the shin would be pretty standard there, no?

The ball was almost exactly where the contact ended up taking place- the contact was only marginally higher, if at all- but the reason for this is that Shawcross catches Ramsey mid-swing (i.e. before he actually would have touched the ball had Ramsey not been there).

Ramsey didn't slid in though. He was stood up, his foot was planted. If he had slid in then his shin would've been a lot closer to the ground, obviously. As it was the point of impact is a fair way off the ground.
Even accounting for the premature impact it is still uneccesarily high and reckless from Shawcross.

No sympathy for him.

Nasty, horrid injury, feel sorry for the lad, really rate him, even if he did tell us to **** off.

But Jesus Arsenal fans, Ramsey won a 50/50 ball by a fraction of a second, 99.99% of the time would've got up fine, just very, very unlucky.

The fact is lesser skilled teams do go in harder against a more skilled team, and Arsenal's problem is the opposition get away with it because the midfield don't give as good as they get. Mikel, Maschareno, Anderson (to some extent), de Jong.... All make a lesser player think twice about trying to physically dominate the midfield battle. Take them out and the lesser team do try it (ironically remember Stoke doing it against us at theirs last season, we had 7 shades kicked out of us that day, some very hard tackles flying)....Arsenal don't have a player like that so the physical strength becomes an important weapon to use (in the same way we know to use the fast counter against you)

However this injury isn't part of some vendetta by lesser players against your lot, just really unfortunate and unlucky its happened again. It's happened to all the big teams over the years, just not in recent years has it happened such a short space of time to one team.

Nonsense, clear to unbiased fans that teams have a nasty streak against Arsenal, three nasty injuries now, it's not just one incident. Thuggery is too rampant in this league and needs to be *ahem* stamped out. Even though as I've said before Welsh players do actually deserve this, clearly....

Thank God for cpr, pretty sure Rose being the only person who agrees with you is the first sign of madness.

BBC saying Ramsey has a "suspected" broken leg. I'll eat my house brick by brick if it's not broken.
