Auction draft

Eyes not spreadsheets
To be fair, I set a 10pm deadline and warned it may be late!

2 non-submissions, but the financial penalty is almost irrelevant this time ($2,050,001 for the record)

The following players have been drafted:

C Ambrose - Pothas
S Barnes - Blakus
A Bedser - Simon
S Gupte - G.I.Joe
R Irani - Nnanden (default pick)
I Khan - silentstriker
B Lee - slowfinger
D Lillee - Noble One
T Lock - Himannv
F Mahmood - NUFAN
S Ramadhin - pskov (default pick)
T Richardson - Somerset
S Warne - honestbharani

For the record, the winning bids were: $40, $123, $517, $353,130, $475,500, $712,000, $1,000,003, $1,050,000, $1,400,001, $1,499,999, $2,050,001.

Well, it's been a long battle and round 11 has a little twist - since there's no bonus for remaining cash, I'm going to assume that your bids will all be your remaining money so therefore all I need from you is the players in the list in your chosen order (most wanted to least wanted) - it'll remain a secret as to who drafts who, but I will say that there are some people with the same cash left, and in those cases it'll be a case of first come, first served. A deadline of about 6pm on Sunday but again bear in mind I may be late in responding - however this one will be followed by the final round-up where you'll find out who cost what and who was the most in demand in each round (although I will do that over time rather than blitzing 11 rounds at once!)

The last batsmen for the draft are:

I Ahmed (Ijaz)
D Compton (Denis)
R Dravid (Rahul)
A Flintoff (Andrew)
G Headley (George)
D Hookes (David)
C Lloyd (Clive)
P May (Peter)
E Paynter (Eddie)
K Pietersen (Kevin)
M Ramprakash (Twinkle toes)
V Richards (Viv)
V Trumper (Victor)

Good luck all!

Maybe some people wanted additional bowling options? (Or maybe I added him!)

Forgot to say that I think I added Lock and Bedser for round 10, but with so many **** ups I can't be sure who I added!

Blakus

Who the hell had 2 million left?:-O

Anyway delighted with Barnes. I'd now argue that I have the best 4 man attack in the comp.

1. Sunil Gavaskar
2. Hanif Mohammad
3. Rohan Kanhai
4. Inzamam ul Haq
5. Steve Waugh*
6.
7. Farokh Engineer+
8. Ray Lindwall
9. Clarrie Grimmett
10. Joel Garner
11. Sydney Barnes

More than one person did, one of whom will shock you!

Have to say the attacks of Younis, Holding, Akram, Warne and Marshall, Dev, Bedser, Verity would compete IMO.

Then of course there's Williams, Caddick, Ntini, Irani

It's SS who had 2 million for Imran I bet. He loves his bowlers and he spent like $46 on half his batting lineup. Well played IMO.

Some of the 4 man bowling lineups look better than mine, but a 5 man attack of Adcock, Fazal, Botham, Laker and Kumble is going to take 20 wickets all the time IMO.

My top 4 are brilliant batsman too, need a good one for number 5 though, hopefully no one has any cash left!

Pleased to get Tom Richardson considering I nominated him - he only played 14 tests and isn't traditionally a legend of the game but I really like the historical feel of my team now with Grace, Lohmann, Richardson and Ranjitsinghi.

WG Grace
Barry Richards

Allan Border
Sir Garfield Sobers
Godfrey Evans
Hugh Tayfield
George Lohmann
John Snow
Tom Richardson

Ambrose would have been nice but Bedser pretty gun still, very happy with my bowling attack, as good as any imo. Given the money I have left I'd imagine I'll be able to snare a pretty good bat in the last round so I'm in good shape.

Its not really going to disadvantage me saying so, but I've got just over $20,000 remaining.
Yeh no point hiding now, not like anyone can get more money or not. I have around $750k left so I'm hoping for one of my top picks.

Yeah honeshbharani's bowling attack looks juicy too.

And full credit to silentstriker for taking the risks he has. Of course he may yet get ramprakash:p

The other thing that I like about my team is that my 3 middle order batsmen are batting in their preferred positions. Of course this is likely to be ruined after the final round.

NUFAN

I have around $300 000 left. Pretty sure I spent $353,130 on Fazal.

Flintoff is going to be very low down on my order, I really would hate to get him for my sides team balance.

The $353,130 bid was mine for Richardson actually. ;)

The Wheel is Forever
Yes, I had more than 2 million left.

And Keith Miller + Imran Khan on the same team. I will accept your resignations now.

In the beginning, I had a plan, and I had targeted the following nine players: Imran Khan, Keith Miller, Adam Gilchrist, Glenn McGrath, Jack Hobbs, Malcolm Marshall, Len Hutton, Curtly Ambrose and Garry Sobers.

I thought if I could somehow grab three of them, preferably three bowlers, I would have an amazing team to build around - I had budgeted 66% of my budget for those three. I ended up getting five instead of three! People said I was splurging, and it seemed liked that only because the players I wanted, due to being so obviously good, were all auctioned off first.

Strategy, it works bitches!
  1. Len Hutton
  2. Vijay Merchant
  3. Shivnarine Chanderpaul
  4. Richie Richardson
  5. TBD
  6. Adam Gilchrist
  7. Imran Khan
  8. Keith Miller
  9. Darren Gough
  10. Lance Gibbs
  11. Glenn McGrath

You want fast bowling all rounders? I GOT fast bowling all rounders - the two best of all time. And my love of bowlers means I get to play five bowlers, but it doesn't hurt that much because two of them are pretty game changing with the bat and my wicketkeeper's batting is vital. I knew I'd have a long and good bowling attack, so I needed the best batsman wicketkeeper of all time to add strength to my batting lineup. It's not the strongest lineup, but it's deep as hell - with my #8 having scored 7 centuries in only 55 matches......imagine having him as a partner for guys like Gilchrist at #6.

Serious? Sounds like an amount I would come up with. It must have been $475,500, meaning I have under $200 000 now.
Yup, as I had just over $373,000 left at the start of last round and wanted to keep $20,000 for the final round, so I bid a touch over $353,000 for the majority of the players on last round's list.

That gives you fantastic depth, good stuff. Though don't forget that I have Sobers and Grace, ranked two and three on the CW top 50 list of all time (and indeed on many others), so thats a handy combination in its own right. :)
