It will be only his 15th and I am kinda shocked to find that out. I was thinking he had something like 20+. The guy has been around for more than a decade and IMO has under performed.

Laxman makes so many nice 60s and 70s, he's similar to Mark Waugh really, except Laxman's managed some huge innings which makes him a superior player to Junior Waugh. I wouldn't say he's under performed.

If Laxman got to play Australia in a Test series several times a year, his record would be right up there amongst the best.

He's had to play at no.6 for the majority of his career.
And he is not someone who can tearaway a hundred like a dhoni or yuvraj while the tail holds up the other hand.
He has been kept out of the no3 position ,which is his preferred one by Dravid and no.4 by Tendulkar.

Steve Waugh is the perfect example to illustrate the difference between number 6 and number 5 .
AT no 5 he has played 102 matches and has 24 centuries and 29 half centuries.So a good conversion rate.
While at no 6 playing 65 amtches he has 6 centuries and 16 fifties. Not a great conversion rate.
At no 6,you often have to bat with the tail,and in a situation where there is a flattish wicket you are often batting before declaring.
V.V.S is not the type of player who can accelerate to a hundred before declaration,or could smash at one end while tail hold up the other,like symonds or Dhoni.
Umpires don't offer light anymore.

Maybe it is not fair to judge Duminy on his bowling in this stage of the match, but........,
against England he at least made up for his poor form with the bat, by doing reasonably OK with the ball. And before this test, I would have argued he has a good pair of hands in the field. But now he really is on the receiving end!

A lot of SA analysts say that we need to give Duminy a chance, we can't send him back to first class cricket, it'll destroy his confidence. Rubbish I say.
Those same guys totally forget that that's what happened to Hashim Amla. He was found out and got sent back. He's a better player for it. Duminy's game is in complete disarry at the moment, he isn't contributing & I don't think he's learning, he's just getting a beating.
Maybe he'll prove me wrong and hit a double over the next couple of days, (actually I hope he doesn't get to bat because Smith & Peterson bat for 2 straight days, but that's a bit unrealistic.)
