At's a good chap then Steve. Get those lads off, positively lethal it is out there.

Our Graeme's got a bit of a dodgy pinkie and the boy Petersen's just a bit green. No sense in risking life & limb over it. Come back tomorrow.

Is there any rain about?

Hopefully showers don't interrupt and the pitch does something. I thought for a bit today it was, but then it just quieted down and seemed to get flatter (part of that was the bating of course).

Bit hard to predict as SA dropped virtually everything that came their way

Certainly wasnt a 600 wicket but who knows?

Duminy certainly owes his team 200 or so

I agree, but there is one thing to add, I think. SA's last missed chance (out of many) seems to be a while ago. Could it be that the pitch is flattening out a lot and might even continue to do so tomorrow?

If SA can bat through day 4 and keep some wickets intact, we might have a good game ahead!

Whatever it takes!!!
Guy is a likeable character, but yeah, never rated him as highly as others on here ever since he played that first ODI for India. He's always looked a rung lower than world class. I daresay plenty of his cheerleaders on the forum have never seen him bat until this series.
It is not about how he looks though.. People have looked far worse than him and carved out decent test careers.. The guy shined at every level he has played and deserved a chance at this level..

And to add to that, I honestly don't think any other Indian middle order hopeful would have been too much better against Steyn.. A couple of single figure scores and a 50 is what I would expect from even the best of them.. Raina can't play a short ball even in T20s... Rohit is injured.. Kohli is still too young and some obvious weaknesses in his game... Panday is young even in FC cricket.. Don't see where our next guy is gonna come from. I believe in giving people chances and I think he deserves more than the 3 innings he has got so far..

Don't see him playing tests again though.. :(

Like they said on CricInfo, If SA pull this out the bag they'll richly deserve the #1 ranking. It'll be a phenominal achievement.

What would the impact be if they thumped the West Indies in May? And will the return series be for the #1 ranking again?

Pitches are significantly flatter when you're 300 runs ahead than they are when you're 300 runs behind.

Saw Badri play against Oz novices for the Presidents X1 (?) on our last tour and he looked terrible so I could never see what the fuss was about and I'm certainly not surprised to see him fail here
