Well obviously. My chart could have told you that 15 overs into India's innings. It was a dustbowl until then though. Then the conditions changed during the innings break.

If you are going to drop 4 catches and stumping then obviously opposition will put up huge scores.
What I was thinking. Test Cricket at the top level, and this is the very top level, is really about taking chances. SA have let themsleves down.

but the simple fact is there no other team better than us rite now.. if we have those mentioned problem other teams have more problems
SA has problems with a few of its batsmen but you'd think that Prince would eventually come back to form and hopefully Boucher would be a straight swap for Duminy so, medium term, it's really only one opening spot (and that guy has just scored a century on debut)

Problems with pace bowlers should be sorted with experience so it's really only the very limited Harris that is a major worry

Oz batting is in a reasonable position in that it's only no. 6 that is a major concern and even then it can be easily fixed

Pace bowling is potentially fantastic but obviously the jury is still out on Hauritz but he's doing ok at the moment

TBH, if a home and away tri series between India, SA and Oz was starting today, I'd say:

a. Oz are favourites at home to the others and away to SA but underdogs in India

b. SA are favourites at home to India and, based on the last 2 series, 50/50 away

c. India are favourites at home to Oz

Now, all of that proves nothing and the only thing we can say for certain is that India are currently no. 1

But, then again, so was Dinara Safina

SS, I'm going (hopefully) to the next WC

Where do you recommend as I'm more into the experience rather going just to watch Oz?
Well, people who've been to many stadiums in India can be a bigger help. In terms of the atmosphere, Eden Gardens is a must - though in ODIs, if India are playing, you can be assured of a packed house. I'm sure guys like SJS would be able to tell you more about the individual stadiums - I don't live in India, so I don't ever go to the games myself.

I can tell you about the cities though - if you want more cosmopolitan experience in terms of the cities, the traditional four centers of Kolkata, Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai are always good. I also really enjoy going to Rajasthan a lot (Jaipur for example should have a game or two in the WC).

It is ODIs so I dont think it would matter much. Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai, Mohali are great choices. I would stay out of Delhi.

Knowing you, I would bet you want to stir up things and prefer Mumbai. Just kidding, Mumbai is great and perhaps the best food.

This. This so much.

Every time I go to India, I make it a point to get to Mumbai and just stuff down as much street food as possible. It's worth every run to the bathroom for a month afterward.

India v England at Eden Gardens will be one hell of match at the World Cup. Don't miss that one.

Even i might head down to India just to watch that...

India lead by close to 200. If they can get the lead to 300, they can go all out attack and maybe they won't have to bat again.

It seems that most test cricket these days is lopsided. When will we get a test where both teams are in with a shout of winning on the last day? These extremely one-sided contests are not helping this pure format of the game.

Jeez how well timed was that off driver by Laxman just then? The time was magnificant. Same with the timing of his on drive earlier against Morne Morkel. Nobody times the ball like VVS.

So for you Indian fans, how bog of a lead do you want? I would go 250 at least myself, or if VVS and Dhoni can go get centuries apiece, and SA do not look like taking a wicket.

I wouldn't declare. If they are there at the end of the day, that's fine. Six sessions is way too much time.

That would seem fairly obvious. The saffers look down and out. India didn't turn up in Nagpur, they didn't turn up here. Is this a pair of ordinary teams or a case of lack of focuws and inconsistency from test to test? It's a far cry from the days when the #1 ranked teams was the Windies.

Yes conveniently ignore Superb bowling by Steyn in the 1st test.
