If final target is around 150 i am sure ind will have this in the bag providing sehwag stays there for 10 - 15 overs. As far as steyn revese swing considered i don't think indians will take that much time to chase down something around 150. I'd say 100 - 150 lead is enough, anything above is a bonus. I am backing bowlers to get SA around 300 in second dig. Most crucial part in the match is how SA play their second innings.

It's pretty flat. It's the type of pitch I'd like to see more often, with good bounce and carry. You get them at a lot of Australian grounds, and they make for great cricket IMO.

Have to give the curator credit here. I wouldn't have especially minded a dustbowl but he's done a great job.

Several of Tendulkar's leg glances including the one with which he brought up his hundred was at near ankle height. The pitch is not THAT flat but it is far from the dustbowl either.

Steyn tbf started getting reverse from roughly around 45th over today, although it was prominent enough. Perhaps it could be also due to the fact that Tendulkar and Sehwag played him brilliantly. We saw how difficult it was for a lesser bat like Badri to cope up with it. I don't think India is going to take a big lead tomorrow unless Smith does a Ponting Nagpur.

Perhaps this is the rose tinted glasses talking, but it must be much more difficult for a new batsman to deal with reverse swing than a settled one.

There is no way SA would have beaten India on a rank turner which cracked up.
It would have been more one-sided viewing.for the neutral.
Though not sure a dustbowl means a classic indian rank turner or a dry slow turning pitch.


This is a more sporting pitch,which is pretty similar to some of the australian pitches.

From the little I saw, I thought he looked quite vulnerable to it tbh. He does the play the ball very late but if Steyn can increase his pace to >90mph I can't see Laxman lasting too long against the reverse.

Agreed. It was Laxman facing a few balls of Steyn that made me put a bet on the next wicket (after Sachin) being a bowled or LBW. It ended up being Badrinath that was clean bowled, but jeez every ball it seemed like VVS would be cleaned up.

I'm hopeful that it's just the way he looks, because I often always think this against fast bowlers who try and nip it into him, but I've also seen his pegs go flying many a time.
