Because it is more convenient than having two different time zones. India is large breadth wise but not as large as say USA.

Aw ****. I went to the ODI against Sri Lanka and was in the G Block, which was mid-wicket/third-man. This means the H block tickets I have are probably square of the wicket. Better off not going now, IMO.
the one which got washed out ??

i was in the f block during that game :)

This is a possibility. I have foxtel and I am stuck at home for a while.
Yeah, people take it on for one month at a time all the time to get so-and-so sporting event. If you go their website with a credit card your Foxtel SmartCard ID it's automatic, and then you can just ring them after the Test is over and cancel it for the following month. No cancellation fee and IIRC it's only about $15-$20 to get it put on for the month.

Probably would've been more inviting if you knew about it before the first Test had started, but still. :p

No, no. The recent one where Gambhir and Kohli both scored tons and we chased down 310 or something.

Thushara hit a ton in the first dig, and then Perera came in and hit 35 off 4 balls or something.

It can't be. Smith has never scored a test 100 and then experienced defeat. Mortgage on bowled Khan for next to nothing.
True again, he's never made a test ton against the Indians and Zaheer only has to face for him to melt. Zaheer is far too classy for him. SA need a batting coach to provide him with a technique which doesn't leave a big gap between bat and pad when facing Khan. He's out of his depth against the latter.

Got no Sky access at uni, so can anyone tell me how big the crowd is? The photos I've seen seem to show packed stands in the background, but obviously that's only close to the pitch.

Eden Gardens is under renovation right now, so it's not really at full capacity, but I'd wager atleast 30000 people turned up at the stadium yesterday.

Superb day of cricket on a pitch that assisted everyone. Sehwag and Sachin getting 100s says all. Sehwag got another 150+ score and Tendulkar his #47 (and four in four). In fact the batting was so amazing that I couldn't go to sleep. Finally went to bed at tea

Test cricket is a tough game, one wkt could open the floodgates. Day 2 lived up to its expectation of wkts falling in the post tea session but not before Ind had taken the lead. Every run is vital here

I wasn't expecting too much from the two new guys and thus I had an extra bowler in my line up. Ind need to get bulk of its runs from the experienced lot. The game has come to a point where so many things depend up on the magic of VVS!

Yea, you don't need him bowling at you with any sort of a target on a last day pitch with reverse swing going on...

150 lead minimum.

I don't think the big lead is that important. Reverse swing does not start from ball one! The runs early in the innings (first 60 overs) are the important thing to concentrate on, imo.

Hence the big lead. If the score is 120, I'm fairly confident in chasing it down. If India have to score 250 on the last day....it's a problem because you have to contend with reverse swing :).

Steyn tbf started getting reverse from roughly around 45th over today, although it was prominent enough. Perhaps it could be also due to the fact that Tendulkar and Sehwag played him brilliantly. We saw how difficult it was for a lesser bat like Badri to cope up with it. I don't think India is going to take a big lead tomorrow unless Smith does a Ponting Nagpur.

Laxman's technique is so perfect for dealing with reverse swing. In theory. I wonder what the reality will be like tomorrow.

I guess we'll see tomorrow. Do you take the new ball?

Laxman and Dhoni should push to a lead of 150. Good batting by Sachin and Sehwag, disappointing the way they got out though. If we can force a win here it would be a brilliant result.

From the little I saw, I thought he looked quite vulnerable to it tbh. He does the play the ball very late but if Steyn can increase his pace to >90mph I can't see Laxman lasting too long against the reverse.
