TBF, those people don't care about the sport itself at all. They just engage in violence because they're bored and enjoy being part of a 'group'. Its a pretty small minority.
Seems to be a smaller minority across the pond though. For all the brashness of American spectators, they don't seem to take their testosterone out on each other as often as their English counterparts. I hate them equally, I guess. And not meaning to generalise really, because there are a lot of very respectable fans in both lots.

Nah, the atmosphere is so amazing at NFL games. It's electric. Baseball games tend to be a quieter fare in general, unless it's the playoffs.
Absolutely loved the fans and atmosphere when I went to Yankee Stadium late last year.

BTW, SA look so much better with Prince in at 6.

The thing is, english football violence is basically their version of underground criminality. It exists in every country, it just happens in the UK to associate itself with football.

Besides, its died down these days.

And I came back from the ground without watcihng even a ball. It is depressing to find India losing this series. :(

You're missing my point though, and it's not a huge deal anyway, but I'm saying that in the US there's virtually no violence among sports fans. Not comparatively anyway. This isn't a comparison of how bad England is, but a statement that, IMO, American fans are better behaved.

Even so, It's too early in the test to speculate about the absence of the referral system costing India the series. It certainly wouldn't be the case if they get spanked by an innings again in this match will it?
And anyway, last test both Prince and Duminy were out on wrong decisions so the umpires owed South Africa 2 poor decisions. One down and one to got.

Fair enough. Personally i think its a whole different kettle of fish, violence manifests throughout america in other forms, whereas in the UK it appears in football. The passionate fans you see cheering during matches aren't the violent ones. There's a clear divide (with a few exceptions, like Millwall) between the actual fans and the thugs who wait around in sidestreets outside stadiums to ambush random opposition fans. I just think its unfair to have that reflect on the rest.

At best (or worst?) they're both equally bad. Drunk, brash, loud, obnoxious, willing to boo the opposition at any opportunity.

Where are the bowlers to dismiss RSA I say.
Interestingly, & I stand to be corrected, but didn't you venomously defend their bowlers when I suggested they didn't have a good enough bowling attack to be the undisputed no.1 side a couple of months back? May not have been you truth be told

At least the English fans are inventive. Once you've seen two massive groups of drunken men debate with each other the merits of their respective mothers via song, you know you've lived.
