***Official New Zealand Domestic Season Thread 2009/10

NZ Guy

U19 Captain
Does anyone know who this M Pollard is? Just saying that if you know him it might be time to start cozying up. With a name like that he could be a millionaire by this time next year.
Wellington College old boy.

Dont think he was ever the star of the 1st XI and was about to get dropped untill he hit 160 of like 60 balls our something ridiculous like that. Guptill like, big hitter.

Williamson - man that kid is one hell of a prospect.

Would like to see him perhaps get a game this time next year if we're playing someone of the ilk of bangers, windies etc

Diamanti not bowling? Batting well though, lol. Think Burson can say goodbye to domestic cricket

Cricketer Of The Year
my former club has just signed Brendon Hiini this summer.
Anyone care to tell more about him? Voltanius? Heath?

Bowls a bit, bats a bit, lol. Has had a crap domestic year, which is a change from his previously good ones. Made NZ 'A' last year IIRC

ND crush CD to quality for the 1-day final. Williamson with another 80 odd. Ingram had better keep scoring against Aussie, cause there'll be a bit of pressure on his one day spot now.

So I'm watching the final and I see Tuffey, Vettori, Southee at the ground, but they aren't playing? Any reason why, Southee especially should be bowling if he want's to play the full series against Aussie.

I'm loathe to criticize after a fantastic batting display, but.....I think ND could've looked for 350 or more there, given they only lost 3 wickets and Auckland's bowling was utterly deplorable.

I'm honestly still not convinced about Watling....it appears the 50 over game is his strength (his FC record is certainly nothing to write home about), but I could easily see today why he has a career s/r of 70. Even given the full 50 overs to bat, he never *really* ripped in.

I'm just not sure there is a place for that sort of player in OD cricket anymore...

Another thing...how can anyone honestly think that Hopkins>McGlashan? McGlashan has a very fine List A batting record.

Also, Hopkins' bowling selections are completely random, he really seems clueless out there. Starting to really loathe him tbh....picked for NZ when he sucks and there is a clear better option, and picked as Auckland captain when he seems to have nfi what he is doing.

Well, I enjoyed that. Watling batted very well after getting to 40. His last 100 odd runs come up of 80 balls, fair effort that. Williamson though, so consistant for such a young player. Looked classy the entire time at the crease.

I would like to see Williamson facing some decent pace.

He seems to have a very good cricket brain and very clever shot selection, and few things are more important than that. Looks ideally suited to nurdling in the middle overs, but doesn't appear to have a great deal of bat speed or lightning reflexes....not saying he's not capable, but would be interested to see.
