*Official* West Indies In Australia

There are so many West Indians injured for this series. One feels Gayle will have to play well if they are to have half a chance.
It's a real pity the Windies have so many injuries, they've really only got the one matchwinner in Gayle, and if he doesn't perform it's all over for them IMO.
I think Chris Gayle's performances are central to the West Indies here. If he doesn't perform, they can forget about even winning a match.
I reckon the Windies are a huge chance in this series, especially if the selectors wake up to themselves and drop that joke of a one day cricketer that is Chris Gayle. With no injuries to speak of, there's no reason to carry him.
, awesome.

Half their side is injured. Not sure what anyone expects of the Windies here. Series is going to be Chris Gayle out early, game won.
Gayle desperately needs to play well for West Indies to have ANY chance of winning this tournament. Everyone else is injured.

Whilst happy that Cooper scored some runs and hoping he'll replicate that form for SA, the two openers aside, reckon he'll score runs against better attacks than the one he faced yesterday.

Yeah Gayle told windiescricket.com that once the game was clearly won he decided to bowl the part timers to make sure Roach, Rampaul and Sammy were not overworked.

So although it was clearly an amazing knock, most of his runs came against Dwayne Smith, Kieron Pollard, Narsingh Deonarine and Chris Gayle.

I look forward to seeing his progress against better attacks in tour games. Tbh he will probably still score runs.

Nah Smith bowled well early on. By the time he came in for stick, Cooper was well past 100. Deonarine took the biggest hammering. Clearly not better than Miller, as some have suggested...

Windie, based upon current form in the domestic league, who do you think would've been a better selection?
Hinds is a good player should not have been left out of teh team for the last 4 years still has something to offer WI cricket.

Im disgusted that Ganga cant find a place sure hes not a dasher but his solid technique and ability to bat long periods would have defenitly helped windies cause against an Australia'n attack whom he has scored to test match centuries against in consecutive innings.

For the first ODI, I'd leave out Hinds, because he'll probably feel out of sorts, after such a long flight....

Given the limited experience of most the younger batsmen, I'd play Nash in the first ODI.

Chris Gayle
Travis Dowlin
Lendl Simmons
Narsing Deonarine
Brendan Nash
Kieron Pollard
Denesh Ramdin (wk)
Dwayne Smith
Darren Sammy
Nikita Miller
Kemar Roach
Morton and Gayle have been extremely successful opening the batting together. And i have not seen many players hit the ball down the ground as fiercly as Runako Shakur Morton. Also Gavin Tonge will bowl beautifully with the white ball as we saw in the champions trophy.
My Team

1. Morton
2. Gayle
3. Dowlin
4. Denorarine
5. Pollard
6. Dwayne Smith
7. Ramdin
8. Sammy
9. Miller
10 Roach
11. Tonge

To be fair, Ganga's been in poor form for Trinidad this domestic season....

194 runs at an average of 24 against what is very likely mediocre bowling.

Someone who doesn't need a zimmer frame perhaps? what about his namesake Ryan Hinds? Imran Khan? Leon Johnson? just someone who might actually give the selectors something to think about rather than someone who clearly isn't gonna be in the next squad when the injured players return.

And it's good to see certain "mods" are acting responsible as always, no doubt "sublimnal mockery" was on the job description when they signed up 8-) .

P.S. Deonarine HAS taken more wickets than Miller at test level, that's merely pointing out the FACTS not saying "Deonrine is a better spinner" .

Wavell Hinds' Test record is not that bad, and like Mr Mx, I think he was discarded a bit too soon....

I can't remember his ODI record, though. Personally, I think Wavell is a better bet than Ryan, whose Test record is inferior to Wavell's. Again, I can't recall his ODI record.

Leon Johnson doesn't seem to be doing much this domestic season. Is he even playing for Guyana? I think it's a bit too early for Imran Khan....

I see where the Trinidad Express is touting Dave Bernard instead of Wavell. But I'm of the view that Sammy and Bernard are so similar that it's pointless having both of the them in the same side.

Actually, Wavell is 33, not 35, as said by the Express....

Ryan Hinds? The ill-disciplined, persistent international failure? ITSTL. He's never even managed 19 in ODI cricket.

Imran Khan? The guy who's never played an OD match? And is very much a bowling allrounder anyway.

Leon Johnson's last proper cricket was last year. His last OD match was 2 years ago.

So in summation, I agree with all these choices.
Subliminal mockery.

Oh and Narsingh Deonarine's SR per wicket 121.2 is just short of the total number of balls 132 that Nikita Miller has had an opportunity to bowl in Test cricket. Get some perspective.

Although I am not that excited by his call up hinds did have a very good record against aussies in ODIs.
Averaging around 40 if my memory serves right.
On current form he is as good as anyone in the domestic level. So its a fair call up i'd say.

Hinds has never played against Australia- you must be thinking of someone else?

I like to look at it as:

Wavell Hinds = mediocre journeyman who used to be able to bat really well and can now bat a bit

vs

Ryan Hinds - Domestic bully who is a bad influence on any dressing room and failed miserably at the international level.

Otherwise it just gets too confusing as you say.
