also I hope the sensible thing is done and YK gets the captaincy back and not Afridi who would be a Yousuf type disaster but in a different way.

Seriously Younis dropped a catch in the Chammpions Trophy and the whole nation accused him of Match Fixing. Effigies of him were burnt. there were 100's of people outside his house in Pakistan.

Firstly as if he would want the captaincy and secondly he should only be playing one format and that is Test cricket.

If they are not going to give the captaincy to Shahid and they probably wont know after he has mistaken the ball for a Granny Smith.

The captaincy should go To Mohommad Asif.

I know he was caught doing Opium only 2 years ago, but the hell they could do worse than make him skipper.

He has got a good temprament and a cool head.

tbh, there is no ideal skipper choice for Pakistan. The best option is Younis Khan for tests yes he is inconsistent with his off field behaviour but he does maintain a good head when on the field the odi captaincy can be gives to someone like Kaman Akmal or Salman Butt.

Pakistan's problems stem from the lack of leadership in the team. Would any Australian player DARE to drop the opposition's best batsmen when Border was at the helm? Would England have had a hope of beating Australia in 05 without the captaincy of Vaughan?

Pakistan's lack of leadership has cost them more than anything else. They have world class players - Yousef, Asif, Kaneria, Afridi and others who have the potential to be matchwinners. Yet they never seem to gel as a team, and that is directly the fault of the leadership - it is not inspiring, binding or intelligent and until Pakistan can find someone who embodies all three areas, they will continue to fail in key areas like catching and running between the wickets.

Some say that the catching and running between the wickets were the cause for the disgrace this summer, but I believe that they are merely symptoms of a weakness of leadership, right throughout the whole system. Until they begin to address that, they will descend further and further as a cricketing nation.

Hopefully they are just resting him. I'm sure he hasn't had a horror run in T20s so there'd be no reason to drop him.

As for Mike Hussey they'd better be just resting him, otherwise.. He's a 10 times the limited overs batsman Clarke is atm.

Yeah I reckon The Huss and Hauritz are being rested. .

I'm a bit disappointed that Birt has actually got chosen in front of Bailey, who played in that opening match of the year and did really well.

I would probably go 1 Watson 2 Warner 3 Clarke 4 Hussey 5 White 6 Smith 7 Haddin 8 Johnson 9 Harris 10 Tait 11 Nannes - so Marsh and Birt miss out.

Would play Marsh at 3, drop Smith and move everyone down one. Reckon Dussey's a better T20 bowler than Smith as well so we've still got a spin option to go with the seamers.

I'd play Smith regardless. Huge talent who I would play ahead of most other batsmen in the squad (excluding Watson and White).

I racken that we will see farhat and butt opening again at least in test matches.. They did a decent job in my opinion.. they gave pakistan a decent start in almost all ininings.. they deserve another chance..

The way i see it.. Pakistan has to prepare for world cup 2011.. this means get ride of some of the guys specially in ODI since they may not be in shape to play anyways by 2011.. Yousuf, Younis and Misbah should be left out of the ODI.. make Afridi the captain of the side.. he should lead both ODI 20/20 team.. I thought he did a decent job as a captain regardless of his actions during the 5th odi..I think guys like fawad alam, Umar Akmal Khalid latif and Khuram manzoor along with Malik can get the job done better than younis, Yousuf and Misbah..

for test matches.. Give captaincy to Younis Khan..give guys like Misbah, yousuf and farhat another go.. see how they will perform.. if they didn't.. dump them and move on..

Birt's selection is confusing. Why not just pick Hodge and be done with it>?

yeah its crazy talk (albiet from a dubious source), now is the perfect time for Pakistan to say "National standards with regards to fielding practise for younger players" especially their development squads will let them rebuild a top quality side to go along with the talent they possess.
