He's alright though, good to see he just wanted to take the mark, hopefully we'll see a bit more of that in the season proper.

We've had a few close calls with regard to injury, but touch wood, nothing serious so far. JZ has a scare when someone landed on his leg and he thought he'd re fractured it but its ok, Cunnington had a hot spot on his foot which which we identified before it became a fracture. Leigh Adams had a knee scare (he had a full recon in 08) but luckily it was just a strain.

I think Scott is pushing them hard, be nice if our luck holds, we had a crap injury run last year.

Would anyone be interested in the betting style tipping on top of the regular tipping this year that they had in the Hun?

ie Carlton $1.20 vs Richmond $7.00

if you pick Richmond you get 7pts, if you pick Carlton you get 1.2

I'll put $100 on Richmond right now.

As resident bookie I believe I have right of refusal to run this.

Awesome. Will be interesting to see at the end of the season who would have made a profit if they bet on the games for real.

You don't bet, just to clarify, you just tip like normal, however the results are weighted so if you tip an underdog and it comes off you could do very well. Introduces an element of risk into it.

Not hard if you take Pasag's odds. $1.20 and $7.00 is an arbitrage.

I was thinking rather than taking bookies' odds (which obviously have an over-round/cut built into them) the prices could be worked out to 100% so that everything is a fair bet. With an over-round even good tippers will most likely see their betting 'funds' dwindle if they're lucky, or disappear altogether over the course of the season. The only reason against it would be if people wanted to show they could beat the bookies.

For example, instead of $1.80 Fremantle and $2.00 Port Adelaide you might have $1.85 and $2.20. Even games would be even money both sides and so forth.

Ah in that case, forget my last post as it's all unnecessary.

Yeah its good, was just kidding about the $100. Though if I see odds of $7, despite our ****ness I'd have to bet against a Fevola-less Carlton :p

They do a similar thing on BF think they take the odds from sportingbet, but it seems to me that CW tipping works better when its on here rather than some external website.

Yeah, but that's like betting with scores instead of money (and locking the stakes to 1 point per match)

Not complaining though, think it would be good, but would it be separate from the main comp?

AFL cracks down on cheats

After seeing the Kan Cornes incident, I think that is a grey area in terms of diving. Couldn't a player claim that it is an "instinctive" reaction when a arm etc. is swung in there direction. It's a bit like th chat about what is "pressure" for a cricketer. I guess it will work well for blatant dives but possibly we will just end up with more difficult to manage tribunal rules.

Bring in fines for teams that kick it backwards too many times I say!

Propose this new regulation be named the "Matthew Lloyd Memorial Law". Oswald retired just in time.
