Quoteworthy! Love it.

Incidentally, further to Jack's point about White, the guy has averaged around 50 over the last few years for Vic in Pura Cup (spit)/Sheffield Shield cricket. A couple of big unbeaten tons helps but that's part of the point; once he gets past 100, generally makes it count. The number of single-digit scores in that time can be counted on one hand and he has one duck, very rarely out early.

Hasn't really kicked on this year (a couple of handy scores) but last season averaged almost 60 for Vic, those knocks were hardly that of a slogger. Were quite measured. The guy's stock is clearly on the rise and I'd be very surprised if the Aussie selectors haven't noticed. Starting to play the sorts of knocks that really hurt an opposition.

Just as importantly, he's done it as captain and Vic sure have won a lot. The man knows how to win, a pretty important quality in a player.

Loving Clapo's pics too.

I think their curent style of batting & transformations from an average ODI player into potential top-class (Symonds hunded vs PAK 03 & White hundred vs ENG 09) is like deja vu, i hardly see a difference in their style of batting.
Meh, their hitting zones are pretty different and I see big differences in rotating the strike, Symonds more likely to chip with White looking more to pierce the field for example.

Hisotry is indeed a guide & not determinant. But that a mistake AUS made in 03/04 (altough their was some logic behind it give nSymonds bowling form in the ODIs before the test) should not made again especially when you have better qualified options in FC cricket.
If White got picked, it'd be for completely different reasons than Symonds was picked for. White, for example, doesn't really bowl any more at any level whereas Symonds, as time went on, got more of the ball the higher he played.

Yes. Although deep down personally i'll admit i would like North if he is retained for the NZ tour, to succeed & hold down a place.
Not advocating that North be dropped yet or that White should replace him but if it were to happen, I'd imagine White would be in the discussion.

What are the reports Mark Nicholas mentioned to Yousuf at the toss about Yousuf losing captaincy?

Also Asif injured. Laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaame.

What would White's record be over the past three to four seasons for Victoria though? He did start off very young as a spinner and undeveloped batsman.
39, 50, 58, 46 in the last four seasons. Didn't realise he was going quite that well; thought he was averaging high 30s to low 40s consistently.

So yeah, backtracking on everything I said, wouldn't mind him in there at all. :p

Butt (the prez one) apparently said in the media there'll be a new captain after the series.

edit: it's in the CI "more news" section.

It was reported a couple of days ago that Pakistan would have a new captain after this series. Surely anyone would be better than Yousuf. Warne described the latter as 'horrendous'.

Watson looking in special touch, loving the aggressive start. Marsh just needs to hang around, even a strike rate of 50 will do as conserving his wicket will allow Watson to hit.

Do they have the work exchange kid at Ch9 in charge of cutting to camera angles? Nearly everytime the ball goes in the air passing the inner-circle it cuts to some shot of the crowd.

Watson just needs to hold his innings together now, looking for a boundary every ball.
