Yeah I agree it's a great effort by Gunathilleke, but that's hardly an excuse. It's not like the coach is going to say "Oh well, he batted well we couldn't do anything to stop him"

Jimmy currently 38* of 32 balls, he doesn't muck around does he.

So big 10th wicket partnerships are more to do with good batting and have nothing to do with poor bowling, captaincy or tatics?
It depends. Just because it's the 10th wicket doesn't mean that the bowling side will, or even should, take it easily. Give credit if the batting side plays well enough to make something of the 10th wicket.

Is anyone else keeping up to date with what's going on between Pakistan and Bangledash? i can't believe Bangladesh managed to get 250 for 5, i must admit with our kids playing yesterday it did cross my mind that a "deal" could be struck between these two, i don't wanna jump to conclusions yet but Pakistan need 120 in just 15 overs, they can do it but haven't they already qualified for the quater finals? what happens if Bangladesh win?.

If Bangladesh win without crushing Pakistan (and they won't crush Pakistan, obviously) West Indies are out, I believe.

Sounds a little dodgy, what with Pakistan only 2 down and showing no signs of any acceleration. Still, no real evidence particularly as it aint televised.

This is why group matches in major football tournaments are played simultaneously. Would never quite work in cricket though.

Why would Pakistan want to lose? If Bangladesh were to beat them there NRR will take a hit and they'll most likely finish second in the group. Finishing second means if your QF is rained out the highest ranked team in that game goes through to the semi-finals.

Not that I endorse the conspiracy theory, but Pakistan do have a very good NRR (IIRC) and therefore only have to get relatively close to stay top (IIRC!).

You're joking right? :mad2: i ain't gonna lie from the time i knew Bangladesh were playing Pakistan second i was concerned, my mind kept telling me Pakistan and them might make a deal, right now Pakistan need 81 runs from 60 balls, it seems like they are in no rush at all 8-) .

He does like to get out near 50 though.

Ah yes I see, if Bangladesh do win here and only just (which looks likely at the moment) then Pakistan will go through as the group number one and Bangladesh number two.

Stop the press!!!.. Pakistan have lost another three wickets but they've got it down to needing 60 runs from 60 balls now, so they can still do it, i ain't holding my breath though  .

EDIT: MY BAD IT'S 60 RUNS FROM 30 BALLS NOW!!.

I don't care what anyone says the whole thing looks suspect to me!!!, that's why this thing should be settled by 'head to head' which means if two teams are level on points it goes down to who won the game between the two sides. this NRR stuff only leaves the door open for the kind of bullsh1t we're seeing tonight imo.

Just want to point out that Josh Richards (the SA captain) is a product of the school I was the coach at. I cant take any credit though as he left the year before I joined. Fingers crossed one or two of my own boys follow this path.
