*Official* Indian Premier League 2010

Mr. Glass
Bro, at least 3 of the 11 Pak players had Indian visas as per the preconditions set by IPL and Modi, and Indian High commission clearly stated that their was no issue with issuing visas to the rest of Pak players. Gov. cleared them, PCB cleared them, and they had the clearance for visas. Otherwise IPL would have never put them up for auction.

Its a sad reality that they will not participate.

Please at least accept the fact that Pak players are one of the best out their right now. They are playing for other leagues around the world. It could never be a bad investment to have Afridi play for 250k when you have sorry players like Kaif and Martyn selling for more.....

The only reason they were not picked is because of their nationality.....lets accept this fact and i totally understand why...
Bull ****. Lets assume that a terrorist attack orchestrated by any terrorist outfit in the world, whether it be Iraq, Iran or any other country(even Indian ones), there will be fingers pointed at Pakistan as a knee jerk if nothing else. Then it is going to take about a year at least to find out who did what. Do you think the Pakis are going to come and play in the IPL? The franchise owners who paid for the concerned players services would be screwed over and frankly it is not a good thing when you look at it as a businessman.

I wouldn't be surprised if no Pakistan player plays in the IPL until the peace talks resume and the countries resume and improve their bilateral ties. Unless the political situation improves, this situation isn't going to improve. Period.

Until the 1998 Indo-Pak series in India, the two countries had not played any cricket in Indian soil for 18 YEARS iirc. So, this isn't anything to feel remotely bad about compared to that time. I wouldn't get my hopes up if I were a person wishing to see players from Pakistan play in the IPL for another 5 years at least.

"Essentially, Parnell fills the slot left vacant after Delhi bought out the contract of Glenn McGrath. "I am not going to go there pretending I'm going to fill his shoes." Instead, Parnell is happy that he would be able to play with experienced players and he wants to use the opportunity to learn faster. One of them happens to be his childhood idols Ashish Nehra.

As a youngster, Nehra had been the first international bowler he had seen bowl live and was instantly influenced. "Yes, he was one my idols considering he is a left-handed fast bowler, too. It would be fun to play alongside him," Parnell said. He aims to gain further experience during South Africa's tour of India next month where he hopes to take the opportunity to learn more about the conditions and the pitches and take that to the IPL."

off course I am pissed.. I am not pakistani don't get me wrong here..but what is fair and truth must be said..

same ****.. going back to politics.. mixing sport with politics..great..I guess it will take ages for some people to get educated.. or i should say centuries..
Gimme a break. Sports and Politics cannot be separated. Why was SA banned for 22 years?

When you have some one violating the cease fire agreement and firing on the border, the Indian government wants to make sure that a team or it's players is not represented in Indian soil.

It's sad, But can't help it. unless pakistan can come back to normalcy i dont see them invited to India or Playing at home and thats the reality

First of all the the term "****" that u have used there is a derogatory word and discermintary.. i would appreciate it if you don't use that again..

second, this all goes back to my argument.. Sport and politics shouldn't be mixed.. sport has the potential to break all the barriors and create human relationships.. politics and politicians on the other hand is the opposite.. they break people.. they isolate people and it is petty that we see people supporting politics rather than sport.. it is petty that we see countries adopting politics in every affair while they could spread harmony and unity around the world by adopting sport, music and art..

And you support that..so u think it is better to mix politics and sport.. it is better that india and pakistan should never play each other..dude go get some education.. and get a life..

it is politics and politicians that divide and create hatret among people.. you think average people like u and me would go and blow a building and kill thousonds of innocent children and working people..

yesterday Taliban attacked kabul afghanistan.. u know who were most of the victems.. children who sell calling cards, plastic bags, wash car in the street.. do u think someone like u and me would do such a thing.. i don't think so..it is politics.. politicians that commit these attorcities.. in a way you are supporting these people.. Today i would have been a happy man if those attacks would kill Obama, karzi, and every single politicians in afghanistan and around the world.. because it is them that are commiting these atrocities..

As much as one would like to believe that this has something to do with politics, it doesn't make sense to accuse the IPL owners of that. From what I see I think they are looking for players who can play for them for the entire tournament.

Here are a few things to consider before you continue your rant :-

a. 3 Aussie players Phil Hughes, Haddin and Bollinger failed to get a contract
b. Ricky Ponting's contract was bought out
c. Why would corporates invest their money on something that is a very high risk.

Thats not the point. The Pakistani govt refused to send their players to IPL2 after the november attacks. Why should the franchises waste a spot to unpredictability?

HTF did Deccan and Chennai let KKR get Bond though? Surely they don't think he'll break down after a couple of overs? Smartest move IMO was KXIP getting Bharath on board. He's young and quality and value for money.
Again that is stupid. The Pakistani players had nothing to do with it, so really governments should mind their own business sometimes. Worry about what happened in Mumbai and stop it happening again, sad that governments go around screwing over people that had nothing to do with the tragic events.

But the government didn't stop anyone this time. It was the IPL owners who decided to not take the risk.

Ok so let me get this straight....

Quality players with proven T20 track records with the cheapest possible price tag = bad business strategy???

Media reports in December clearly state that at least 3 out of 10 players had visas and the Indian Embassy in Pakistan did not refuse any applications of Pak players.

In the past when relations were not good, both countries closed their respective embassies. This time around their is no such problem going on.

So, the reasoning that it was "risky" is completely ill advised.

Of course it is because they are Pakistani and no the whole visa issue has very little relevance to the problem at hand. I would think the IPL would have a progressive outlook towards this whole Pakistan ordeal but obviously not. This is nothing short of a slap in the face. Indian fans absolutely loved Akhtar in Kolkata and Afridi in Deccan even though Afridi at that time was woefully out of sync. The truth of the matter is they are both the most exciting sight in the world when in full flight. Imran Nazir and young Umar Akmal are some of the best 20 20 talents out there.

I have heard all the reasons, I am sorry but there is absolutely no justification for not selecting a single Pakistani player in the auction. In any case I think Pakistan shouldn't be surprised, the BCCI has undertaken a very negative outlook towards Pakistan cricket ever since the attacks. Lets hope these guys continue to get chances in England and Australia.

Yes because their participation is not guaranteed because of the volatile India-Pak relationships. It has nothing to do with how Good Pak players are in the format. You know and I know it very well that either Government can pull the plug of the participation of Pak players any time and hence the risk.

I reckon a lot of the hesitation regarding the Aussie guys might have something to do with all that Shiv Sena bull**** going on right now and the threat of them not turning up. Marto is probably a bit different situation wise to alot of the younger guys.
