Disagree with the above. Marsh has had more than half a good season, he's now had 1 1/2very good seasons.

He's also proved himself in the one day side and he has a father who used to play with 2 of the 4 selectors, one of them Boon is great mates with Geoff Marsh.

I also like the fact that we'd have a batting lineup of (he shouldn't be selected for this reason alone)
1 RH 2 LH 3 RH 4 LH 5 RH 6 LH 7 RH 8 LH 9 RH
Bingo

Trouble is that Rogers & Jaques have had about 10 seasons each that are as good as Marsh's best

This match would be a guaranteed draw against almost any other team. But not Pakistan (and probably NZ too).

Looks like Aust will have to toil to get through Pak. Will be impressed if they get a few tonight.
Mitch to take 10! (but lunch tomorrow)

I meant consecutively. He averaged 23 last season. In his last five summers he's hit a grand total of two First Class hundreds, and he averages less in First Class cricket overall than North does in Tests. He's been having a good season so far, but that's consisted of just five games. I like him, but he needs to do more IMO.

As I said in another thread before, the last thing the Australian team needs is another batsman who looks good at the crease and gets lots of starts but never converts unless the score's at 3/250 already. Not only has that been a perennial problem within the team over the last year or two, but it also sends a message back to domestic cricket that what one needs to do to get into the team is create hype around oneself and make pretty unconverted starts. Even if we pick blokes like Rogers, Hughes or even Dussey and they fail, it'll send the right sort of message back that players need to work on scoring big runs to get picked.

And that makes him a better batsman how?

I never denied the possibility of him getting picked; it's quite possible for a variety of reasons, that being one. But I thought the discussion was over whether he should be picked.

Duffer you're a ****.

For the last week I've had that Steve Porter remix of Allen Iverson's "practice" press conference in my head.

It's now my ringtone

Heh, I love the little guy so much but even I couldn't handle that as my tone. Do people look at you funny when it rings on a train or something?

Haha was in Sydney this week and I was catching up with a mate. He was like "Oh I like rap, who sings that?"

Almost burst into tears of laughter.
