So do Katich and Jaques. You don't normally hear about batsmen having bad backs but it seems to be happening a lot lately with Australian Test batsmen; wonder why.Ponting and Clarke both seem to have degenerative bad backs, weird. No high paid chiropractors on their payroll ?
Coincidence that Clarke's back has been buggered from overuse since he took up with Bingle? I think not...Ponting and Clarke both seem to have degenerative bad backs, weird. No high paid chiropractors on their payroll ?
I'm sure the volume of cricket excuse will be there somewhere. But in all seriousness, with all the practice they do, maybe constantly leaning over the bat takes its tollSo do Katich and Jaques. Indeed, They were terrible. No one seems to be able to just tough it out when conditions don't suit them, they continue to bat like it's being played on astroturf.I was a bit tolerant when we lost the Ashes. There I think we genuinely did lose the big moments, given that we made more runs, took more wickets etc etc. But this match we've been really dire, mainly with the bat, but not great with ball either. And you could say it's a blip, but the thing was, as we collapsed on Sunday, and as our middle order utterly failed to capitalise on the bully pulpit Watson provided them today, no-one was at all surprised. It's sobering to realise how much our middle order depends on Ponting being brilliant. Problem is, there ain't many options to make it better.
He's just unorthodox, and people need to get used to it. I'd much rather a dogged, horrible looking innings than a flashy, confident, sub-par effort atm. The Australian batsmen just don't look like they care, and it is SO hard to watch. With Hughes, you know you will get gritty determination and application, and that's what we need.I still don't get the Hughes love, he looked **** in this test.
Are you ****ing high ? The guy has no idea what grit and determination is, he just wants to unleash his next coverdrive. His technique is flawed, and unlike many who have flawed techniques and are able to work around them he hasn't done so yet. He's just unorthodox, and people need to get used to it. The guy averages 59 in First Class cricket and 52 in Tests.
I'm a Rant0r fan, don't get me wrong. But this post comes across as an uninformed vendetta. Did you watch his second Test against South Africa? Are you ****ing high ? Shocked the saffies didn't work him out, not surprised he failed in england, also surprised he averages so much in FC cricket, but that could be a blight on the domestic bowlers, and my personal favourite, flat pitches
In fairness, he may be woefully out of form, but against England and Pakistan he's looked pretty horrible a lot of the time. It doesn't seem like just unorthodoxy when it's actually leading to his downfall. I mean, he played and missed more times in the second innings of this Test than Travis Dowlin did all series past.I'm a Rant0r fan, don't get me wrong. Two of those matches were the biggest series of his life and the other was his first Test at home, when he was (probably) playing for his spot in the side. I'll forgive him for playing at a few he shouldn't because he's nervous. He's the type of player you need to back, and let him have a run.In fairness, he may be woefully out of form, but against England and Pakistan he's looked pretty horrible a lot of the time.
Hasn't he been making plenty of runs for the state ? What does that tell you ?In fairness, he may be woefully out of form, but against England and Pakistan he's looked pretty horrible a lot of the time. One might say, "well he played and MISSED, not nicked", but it shows a pretty questionable awareness of his offstump. And that's never a good thing for a Test batsman.
