Yeah good points. I honestly don't think the selectors should be thinking of only the Ashes and matches against India. West Indies showed Australia that pretty much every series is going to be a hard slog, especially away from home.

Interesting point about Asif here Xuhaib. Was it that worrying in NZ recently?. Since i hate it if he has indeed lost anything in his bowling due to an injury at this ealry stage of his career still.

Not sure Pollock had any injury post 2000 TBF. He had an early career injury which made his slower - but he was always excellent. He declined post 2003 to be exact because he lost nip in his bowling. But overall yea i see what you saying..
Had a long-term ankle injury sustained in the previous decade but missed quite a bit of cricket between 2003/4/5 seasons because of it and was managed through it. That was the rationale given for why he lost his nip, he could no longer bowl without being in pain.

I'm almost glad Hilfenhaus is injured as it ensures Bollinger a spot in the XI. Though I'd rather Hilfy than Siddle.
Listening to Damien Fleming on ABC during the second test he was of the opinion that House's injury would take months (as long as eight months because it’s so serious) to correct. I read that House made a comeback on the weekend but promptly felt discomfort.

Trying so hard to at least get to lunch on day 1 of the first test before making my first roids mention, don't put temptation in my path...

8 months? I'm surprised. He took 4/18 in grade cricket, you would think the injury wasn't THAT serious

According to Dr Flem it takes that long to properly heal though you can play in the meantime.
May not be a doctor but if there's one thing Flem knows, it's fast bowling and knees. I'd be listening to him.

Manged to catch some Sami in the domestic final and it is hard to believe but he has actually declined as a bowler, was easily the worst bowler on show and that includes some overs from Younis Khan.

Fun times in store then?

Question for Pakistan fans; whatever happened to Hasan Raza? I noticed he's in the middle of playing in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy final and I'm surprised to have not seen him in Pakistan colours for some time. Can anyone offer some insight as to why he's just disappeared? Thought he looked very solid when I saw him play in Sharjah after his first comeback. Good fielder too.

Played 23 games for Pakistan with three fifties and a highest score of 77 to show for it as a middle order batsman in a career that ran parallel to Younis, Yousuf and Inzy. I'm not surprised he isn't in the team, although certain others have been given lots more faith after similar failings to be fair and he's always been an absolute gun domestically.

weak against the short ball and hence dropped after 2 failures against Flintoff and Harmison when it was suppose to be his time to shine, best Pakistan batsman against spin since Miandad not a surprise he handled Warne without any issues. Went ICL when there was a window of opportuinity due to Inzi's retirement.A much better bat then Misbah,Malik or Faisal many of those 23 games happened before he was even 18 so I will not look too much in to it.

Remember him looking real awful indeed againts that short ball in that 05/06 series vs ENG.

My memory of the 02/03 series vs PAK outside of the first test in SRI & Hayden's hundred is very dusty ATM. But i dont remember any PAK batsman looking good againts Warne TBF (although i dont doubt what you saw about Raza since you clearly would know more about him than me). Its just that right now all i rememver is some shameful batting from your guys during that series.

Apparently Mo Yo and Younis have kissed up and Younis is in line for a recall hopefully ACB will intervene and does not allow Younis to join the team midway through the series there should be an end to this Pakistan cricket circus/drama.

How on earth is CA meant to tell Pakistan they can't add someone to their squad if they want to.

Hope Younis plays, for the sake of having as high a standard of play as possible.

Having watched Kamran Akmal bat against New Zealand, I hope Johnson and Siddle taget Kamran with the short ball, and Ponting set's a field for some short pitched bowling because he really looks like a walking wicket against short bowling at the body. Sure he might hit a four or six, but I would keep trying it, as he could just get himself out. Anyone remember Kamran getting out to Chris Martin at Napier with some sort back foot fend and spooned it to Guptil at point? And in Wellington Martin also smacked him in the head with a bouncer. I mean if you can't handle short pitched bowling from Martin, who is 10 years older then Siddle, and 7 years older then Johnson, and was never that fast to begin with, then how can he expect to cope with it from the Australians?

Just a question for the Pakistani fans, what is Faisal Iqbal like domestically? Is he really good, or is the bowling rubbish, or vice-versa? Especially in recent seasons. Otherwise having an uncle is all-time great with the bat always helps I guess. Especially in that it can trick selectors into thinking Oqbal will be Test standard one day. And if Imran Farhat can bat through an innings unbeaten, then you really do have problems.

I really can't see how Pakistan will win a Test.
