Tasmania trying their best to choke this game away against WA.

What do people think of Bailey?

****en hell, redbacks lost I knew they would. Bowling just isn't good enough atm, Cleary needs to come back now and Tait should be putting his hand up aswell, because Duval has pretty much done nothing and Haberfield isn't too much better.

Christian and O'Brien aren't taking enough wickets, they can't both be in the side if this keeps up.

Tassie will only get better once Paine gets more games under his belt. One of the rare failures for Bailey this season and Birt followed suit.

Sorry about letting the tipping comp slip. I've been swamped with work. Will try to get it up and going again over the next couple of days.

Personally reckon Manou's going to get killed for this more that the bowlers. The Vic's passed the total with about 18 overs to spare. This means that the original rate set was under 3.5 rpo. Even with 381 to get, Vic would have been thinking they were in with a big chance if they just batted professionally, kept wickets intact, etc.

Is reflected in the SACA's bowling too; all the bowlers between 3 and 4.5 an over. No-one went the journey nor did anyone bowl super tight. Aaron O'Brien went for more than usual, though.

Depressing loss but hardly a disaster; SA are still high up on the table and lost to the best domestic side for the past 5 years. Cleary and Tait are still injured, I believe. Hard to know who to drop but it's harder to know who to pick. SA grade cricket is full of inelligible players from overseas or solid club pro's. Reckon it could be a bit of a lull right now while younger guys from successful age tournaments establish themselves.

What do you think of Duval? Is he better than the other options available? He looks a good bowler, but I have yet to see him bowl a really threatening spell.

How about a return for Rofe? Injured perhaps, was doing a good job for the ABC Grandstand team covering games in Adelaide.

Haven't seen Duval in ages but remember he was considered top-notch in grade cricket circles before he went to Tas. Rofe can't bat or field (at FC level anyway) so even if fit, don't think we'll see him in SA colours.

Anyway, I don't think it's time to panic. SA are 2nd on the ladder and after the match going on in QLD, at worst they'll be 3rd. Decent position to be in before Christmas, especially with batters like Klinger, Cosgrove and Borgas just starting to hit big scores. SA teams of the early 00's would be ecstatic.

Geez, what a win. Peaking too early in the season are QLD, though.

SA making a mockery of the concept of U/23's with the selection of their bowling attack........and still lost.

Any actual Qlders, as opposed to blow-ins, take wickets or score runs in this match?
Qld have more outgoings than incomings when it comes to personnel, just quietly.

Anyway, any State that brings big Carl Rackemann to tears, which NSW did in a Shield final in the mid 1980's (the image of which is indelibly etched), is a mongrel of an outfit.

Poor Carlos - I doubt he'd cry if he got ran over by one of his tractors...but the Blues managed to make him tear up.

Wow what a win for QLD.

I get the feeling that NSW were missing Katich, Watson, Clarke, Hauritz, Bollinger, Haddin, Lee, Bracken, Clark, ****ley, Cameron a bit from this match.

Also surely it's time for Rohrer to be dropped, with 12th man Warner or Thornley the obvious replacements.

The big problem for NSW was the inexperience in the pace attack. We could have used Cameron but I'm guessing hes injured.

Funny you mention Rackemann - a knew a bloke who went up to Brisbane for a Shield match on a drinking tour with his mates. They went to the Gabba and he was sledging Rackemann so badly big Carl eventually jumped the fence and chased him around until he was restrained. This was int he 80s.
TBF, the sledging which apparently prompted the chase was appalling and it's a shame Carl didn't catch the bloke. The fella passed away young froma succession of strokes brought along by his poor lifestyle habits, including drinkng waaaaay too much.
