Did Ponting move to NSW or something?
I think he was commenting relatively. That was a turning track?
True. But if Krejza develops decent enough accuracy. The thing about Hauritz is that he isn't in the team to run through the opposition - his job is well defined to tie up and end and create pressure. Any ground in Australia is virtually a graveyard for finger spinners unless they get massive rip or bounce of which he gets neither.
Well Hauritz was picked last year with him not being a regular for NSW. Krejza has already taken 8 wickets in a test, so at least we know what he can do when conditions suite. Whenever AUS tour the sub continent again. Krejza should definately play ahead of Hauritz as well.Until Krejza runs through sides domestically he shouldn't be considered. Got a feeling he won't be playing for Australia again any time soon (if ever) anyway.
Such a season would be good indeed. But i dont think its should be the only basis to picking him again tbf. After all he did well in tests before his surgery, he wasn't dropped for bad form or anything.Top_Cat said:Jaques in particular, as far as I'm concerned, should be nowhere near Test selection without a 1000-run season.
Reckon the selectors dont rate him unfortunately. His technique looks so weird, Jaques looks a better player overall based on what i've seen of them.Top_Cat said:Chris Rogers' age keeps getting brought up as a reason to not select him when Jaques is only a year and change behind him.
Ha na harsh on Hughes. I reckon he could play in Perth & score a fifty or hundred. Unlike Jaques, he has form behind him. AUS took a tactical risk to drop him during the Ashes for obviosu reasons, but surely its not like he would have gotten bad overnight.Top_Cat said:I know a Vic batsman won't be selected because of the ban but if I see Jaques or Hughes name seriously mentioned in selection, I'll scream.
Ponting has lived in NSW for about 10 years!Did Ponting move to NSW or something?
It's not such much accuracy as variety which is his big problem. Krejza used to just run in and bowl big turning offies, try to clean bowl the batters. Fine for grade level but he was found out fairly quickly at FC level. The last season or so, I think we're seeing a lot more variety from him. Has been bowling with decent pep in limited overs and FC games.True. But if Krejza develops decent enough accuracy.
Not the only basis but a big one. What you're talking about happened almost three years ago now. Should largely be irrelevant to current selection.Such a season would be good indeed. But i dont think its should be the only basis to picking him again tbf. After all he did well in tests before his surgery, he wasn't dropped for bad form or anything.
What form? Have you seen his numbers this season? It's not about ability, it's about form. And Watto's form outstrips his by some margin.Ha na harsh on Hughes. AUS took a tactical risk to drop him during the Ashes for obviosu reasons, but surely its not like he would have gotten bad overnight.
Very harsh on Jaques!Honestly don't see why NSW are bragging about their alleged embarrassment of opening bat riches. The only one to score a ton opening the batting this year for NSW is, you guessed it, Kateesh.
And, as much as I don't think Watto is a long-term opener, you can't fault him too much for a few Test 50's and one near-ton when none of the others have come close to matching that at a lower level against demonstrably weaker bowling attacks.
Jaques in particular, as far as I'm concerned, should be nowhere near Test selection without a 1000-run season. Chris Rogers' age keeps getting brought up as a reason to not select him when Jaques is only a year and change behind him. I know a Vic batsman won't be selected because of the ban but if I see Jaques or Hughes name seriously mentioned in selection, I'll scream.
Yeah, I tend to agree. He certainly 'deserves' to be in the team at the moment, but I think he'd fail if he was picked right now. Dinosaurs walked the earth the last time he hit a First Class ton; I'd like to see him at least get one of those before he was brought back in.Phil Jaques looks nowhere near ready for international selection, regardless of what his average this season suggests. Jaques has never been a player blessed with a terrific technique, but watching him play and miss multiple, multiple times against some pretty average Australian medium pacers early this season, and in his limited innings last year does not inspire that he is ready to face the likes of Roach or Asif in international cricket.
Looks a cricketer who needs the 1000 run season simply to find his form, and confidence. He is well short of both right now.
So would I, but you have to set yourself up to do so first and then have the players who can play that way. There's nothing admirable about flailing about at everything and losing. You need to be aware of the situation and your abilities as a team. Looking at how many runs were scored the previous 2 days, 330 in less than a day wasn't going to be that easy.I don't agree with this, I know I would much rather see them lose in the process of trying to win at all costs, than just block for 55 overs. I think u play to win
Yeah, I had to laugh at that. North is probably ahead of everyone in my good books apart from Clarke in the top six.North, the flat track bully who scored a debut ton on as difficult a wicket as you would like to bat on, 96 to save us at Birmingham and 110 at leeds....?
The 96 was on a very flat pitch at Edgbaston and the 110 was against some very ordinary bowling routinely pitching the ball too short. The fact of the matter is that every time the England bowlers had their game on, North went missing should not be disregarded.North, the flat track bully who scored a debut ton on as difficult a wicket as you would like to bat on, 96 to save us at Birmingham and 110 at leeds....?
which was during 2 x 2 hours in the Ashes when our whole batting order fell like a pack of cards and cost us the match. 2 low scores chasing 500+ in the 4th innings, meh..The 96 was on a very flat pitch at Edgbaston and the 110 was against some very ordinary bowling routinely pitching the ball too short.
