Given used to be a Gaelic keeper I suspect, stays on his line too much. His shot-stopping's so incredible he's a quality keeper in spite of it, but there are a few I'd rather have. His keeping for the goal that put us out of the World Cup was horrendous- he's bloody lucky Henry didn't control it with his feet or he'd be the villain of the piece.
He was too busy yelling at the ref. That whole episode was a good advertisement of the rule you learn about referees in under 10s. Play the whistle and the whistle only kids.

Aye, he needs to put a (toilet) lid on it IMO

Thing is Liverpool were rubbish. Really dire. Had the Ngog chance, a 50/50 penalty shout and a few blocked shots. They barely created anything and look toothless without Torres. Rovers had the better of the game, and I don't really need bias to say that. We weren't hoofing it all day to Samba by himself up front either.

Indeed

Although I do think 'pool had the better of it for a decent portion of the second half. N'gog should've hit at least 1 of 2 chances, Torres would have :(

McCarthy (i think?) should've drilled his chance late too.

Just don't get having Aquilani sitting on the bench either, frustrates me. Team is creating nothing, and the replacement for Xabi sits on the bench for 5 straight games

Yeah I think our support for our respective teams might color our judgement slightly, but a draw was probably a fair result, and either team could have won it. Just don't like this notion of "Pool had all the play, and were unlucky not to trounce hoofball Rovers" that the article put forward. Di Santo fluffed a 1v1, (one of the more shocking bits of football I've seen in the EPL. 7m my rear) McCarthy had great chance as did Diouf, and it was only spectacular keeping by Reina to deny Kalinic at the death.

Feel a bit sorry for Ngog too. The ball bounced up on him horribly, and he couldn't realistically be expected to get his boot to it. Of course Torres would have created 3 chances that otherwise wouldn't have existed.

But the Liverpool side that ran on yesterday doesn't stand a chance at top 4, and will be lucky to see Europe.

Wolfsburg must be feeling confident in their CL clash against Man Utd. Michael Carrick and Darren Fletcher will play at centre back, and Patrice Evra being the only first choice defender who is fit for the game. So the kids will include Oliver Gill, (son of chief executive David Gill), Magnus Eikrem, Cameron Stewart, Matte James and Oliver Norwood. No Edwin Van der Sar, Rooney, or Berbatov. Owen and Welbeck being the only strikers in the squad.

Don't disagree ftr. The first chance N'gog had was a little tough, but he should've done a lot better than the airswing when gerrard headed across the face soon after (imo anyway).

Believe could see Evra at CB next to Carrick, making Evra possibly the shortest CB in history! Would see Giggs at LB and Fletcher at RB in that case, playing behind Gibson/Scholes/Anderson in the midfield, probably Valencia or Obertan in there aswell, with Nani playing Pro Evo at home.

If Dzeko and Grafite don't score goals against that defence, then who will they score against?

Evra's reading of a game is spot on, will keep position and his attacker well, and his leap is pretty impressive, enough to put off a taller attacker. Might even see Giggs in there, sound football brain, can read the game faster than most and put in a good tackle. Wont be left for dead by a striker either. Remember seeing him head a ball back in 1995, though not since......

Either way, definately wont be Scholes......

Giggs isn't playing. Nani's in the squad.

The Premier League Numbers And Stats

Liverpool
* Liverpool had 60% of the possession at Blackburn but mustered just two shots on target.

* Liverpool's league record wthout Fernando Torres this season: P5, W1, D3, L1. That form over 15 games would put them 12th in today's table.

* At this stage last season, Liverpool were top of the league with 34 points from 15 games.
Someone should point this out to Rafa. Need creativity and a backup forward who can actually finish plz

He's the only one tbh.

Don't think he's ideal for Arsenal anyway. They need physicality, but not an out-and-out target man. Bergkamp was perfect, as is Van Persie. Can't really think of anyone out there who can do that job but there's probably someone somewhere.

I think Drogba would be perfect actually, clearly well out of the question though. Van Persie is good and easily our best striker, but doesn't really have the physical presence needed, and great as Bergkamp was he didn't either. Painful as it is, we need a player much like Adebayor was when he was on form. What I hope is avoided at all costs though is the dreaded "fox in the box" type players, no more Francis Jeffers types please.

Wenger's denied that we've made approaches for Balotelli, Dezeko and Chamakh in the last few days.

Though funny you should mention fox in the box players. As this story cropped up.
