Second best batsman in the country behind Ponting by a street. It's an absolute travesty the way he has been treated throughout his career.
Word out. Hopefully the dumb selectors can put aside the grudge they have for him & pick in the T20 WC squad indeed.

I'll eat my computer if they do. Not a chance in the world unfortunately. Shame, because we've missed out on a fantastic player for reasons other than cricket.

Sad for Hodge, but this gives someone like Quiney, Blizzard or Finch a decent chance in the longer format which is always good.

Sad loss in Hodge retiring from first class cricket, especially whilst still dominating the competition.

Always been a fan throughout his career. The hype that surrounded him in 1993/1994 had everyone believing Victoria had just unearthed the next Dean Jones (but someone who would play 100 Tests). Career never panned out as such, but always a terrific servant of Victorian cricket throughout some of our more darker days, and someone who has taken us back to the top of the Shield pile over recent years.

I dunno, sounds like the end of his career at least has panned out in exactly the same way.
