Gutted. :(

I predict that the replacement called into the squad will have a name that starts with S....and ends with outhee.

Who cares.

I mean, Bond's record is already ****ed, since half of his tests were against sub-standard sides. This was his chance to prove himself against a standard test team. It is my Bad Karma. I blame myself.

Anyway, test cricket is over until March.

I am so depressed to read that news. However NZ are actually lucky to have him firing all cylinders even at this age and after so many injuries so basially all these performances are a bonus. I also don't think Vettori overbowled Bond. Perhaps this is harsh to say but in India we call this the terminal cut ( a term used to refer to the practise of cutting deeply the bark of a dying rubber tree to maximise the sap outflow from it before it is cut down permanently).

I think Bond must pretty much view it that way too by now - just play whenever possible until injury makes it physically impossible to continue.

It just seems to be that last extra bit of effort he puts in playing for NZ that causes him to break (ie. when he cranks it up to 11)... doesn't seem to get injured playing for Canterbury or in the ICL, but I doubt he bowled at 152 kmph either.

Still hoping for one last hurrah (at least) against Australia at home next year.

Oh ffs. Not just gutted for NZ's chances, but I was looking forward to seeing Bondy in the flesh at the Basin.

Argh!

It was inevitable of course, Bond's body just can't handle the jandle. He sounded really depressed about it when speaking to the press. I wouldn't be at all surprised if he announces his retirement from test matches in a few weeks. I dunno, maybe the allure of a first test win over Australia in 17 years might be enough to keep him in the game for another few months.

You predicted correctly that Shane Bond would get injured. Congratulations. :p

It's between Tuffey and Southee for his spot I think. Arnel an outside chance but doesn't seem to be quite close enough to the squad. They'll leave Boult alone.

Bolded are the only cemented places long term imo. With that many variables who know what the side will look like. This is assuming my memory correct that the current squad was picked for the first two tests?
