Whatever it takes!!!
Ambrose got him out ONCE in domestic cricket.. Try again, mate..Lara struggled big time in games against Ambrose in the domestic cricket.

Sachin averages lesser against Nicky Boje than Lara... Go figure..I haven't cherry picked anything. Using the either/or query against McGrath and Warne like YOU did for Donald and Pollock, Tendulkar comes out on top. Choose one or the other, you can't have both.
Tendulkar averages a full 10 points more against Imran Khan. What Lara WOULD have done if he had played more matches is merely speculation. Just like if I tell you that Lara would have failed miserably against Ambrose and Walsh.
Loved the Aussie planning in that series they were just brilliant probably the best moment for a side that won so much. That is junk.. McGrath's bowling is hardly suited to India.. The only reason he was that good in 2004 was that they had fielders cutting off our main shots and McGrath's lines and lengths meant we were going to poke at one eventually... Indian tracks hardly EVER aid seam movement. There is a reason why most of our fast bowlers are and have always been "swing" bowlers than "seam" bowlers...
Indeed.. You can check out the posts of mine from that tour thread where I must have said exactly what you have said in this post.. It was an amazing display of what planning and execution of that planning can do,...Loved the Aussie planning in that series they were just brilliant probably the best moment for a side that won so much.
I think that series underlined how key tendulkar has been to the Indian sides' success against Australia. Adam Gilchrist was splendid as captain int hat series. He deserved to be captain. It helped that Ponting played in the series only after they had it wrapped up. Tendulkar had his injuries too.
You dare disagree with the Greg Chappell school of thought?Yeah, dropping oneself is super leadership...
I think it underlined how under prepared were for that series.. Tendulkar or no Tendulkar, we lost it because we hadn't played proper test cricket for a while and it came at a time when collectively most of our main players were going through a bad patch... Our bowling could have done better but it never did and we were almost always playing catch up after losing the toss in most of the tests...I think that series underlined how key tendulkar has been to the Indian sides' success against Australia. The series could have still been squared at least or that's how I like to believe, had the last day of Chennai test was not rained off with India needing I think about 230 runs with Sehwag gunning along.I think it underlined how under prepared were for that series.. I agree Sachin is crucial. I mean, for any match, he is always obviously crucial for India because he is one of the greatest ever batsmen to have played the game but to attribute the loss to him is cruel to the rest of the team.
i dont think he is in contention.Surely no one's claiming that Ricky Ponting was the best batsman of the 90's.
pratters... once i finish my work this week, i intend to start a "team of the decade" thread. hope there is enough interest in it.like bagapath does in his world XI threads if possible.
Hmmm team of the 90s.pratters... once i finish my work this week, i intend to start a "team of the decade" thread. hope there is enough interest in it.
And Lara has rated Tendulkar better :PTendulkar has rated Lara better than him...
I don't just quote names if they aren't true. Here is Sobers :Don't go quoting off names mate.. Will like to see where Sobers and Imran rated Sachin ahead of Lara, for starters...
And MarkWaugh is not a great of the same standardsof the others mentioned there.. I don't really see why his opinion should count more than a McGrath or Murali who both rate Lara better.
A difference of 5 points is *slight* HmmmmIn the 90s its Waugh no questions asked. Slightly inferior record to Tendulkar but did very good/great against all the best attacks of their time.
