International Captain
Anurag Verma has been called up into the Northern Districts team for the CD game. It will be interesting to see how he goes as I've played against him a few times, wondering how quick he is these days.

Jono Boult was also called up. Surprised neither Bruce Martin or Te Ahu Davis got the call tbh.

James Marshall (Captain)
Graeme Aldridge
Jono Boult
Trent Boult
Anton Devcich
Peter McGlashan
Michael Parlane
Bradley Scott
Kane Williamson
Brad Wilson
Anurag Verma
Joseph Yovich

That is a bit wierd but I'm not complaining.

Hoping Trent Boult plays this round.

Interesting selections from my view too given both Martin and Davis are contracted.

How long ago did you play against Verma, Howsie?

I tried to find some deets on what's happening with Martin and Davis, but this was the only tidbit I found:

Northern Knights' depth to be tested | Stuff.co.nz

Waikato Times said:
"We've brought in Anurag Verma and Jono Boult as bowling all-rounders," said Bradburn.

"The plan has always been to have as many guys as possible to step sideways into the team and I think we have three or four guys capable of performing at this level.

"We've still got Bruce Martin and Te Ahu Davis from our contracted players who we haven't selected yet but they will play a big part during the Plunket Shield."
Good thing CD have the 'Pillars of Strength'

"We've identified four guys as their pillars of strength – Mathew Sinclair, Peter Ingram, Ross Taylor and Jamie How," Bradburn said.

Lol

All bar Skippy and Pinga to fail as Patton lodges up some stupid score.

Bradburn could have just said we're awesome at batting. :p

Just before he was selected for the New Zealand under 19 world cup team was the last time I played him, so just under two years ago.

CD are getting smacked around by ND at the moment.

CD 33/4, Boult has 2/6 off 6 overs and Aldridge has the other two. Boult removing Ingram and Sinclair, Aldridge got How and Worker.

Woo, go ND!

CD 65/6 now. I'm pleased to see that Taylor is 24 not out though.

In the other matches it's good to see Brodie and Nicol continuing to do well (or at least start well). I'm going to ignore Matthew Bell and Michael Papps predictably scoring 50s *sigh*.

How good are Northern Districts. Even when missing our two best bowlers we can destroy a batting line-up like CD's, easily the best domestic team in the country (this year).

Hopefully our top order fires this time, I'm not to worried about this bowling attack though, it's pretty tame.

And how long do CD persist with Worker, he's never really done anything at this level.

CD all out for 94... have to wonder what the pitch is like.
Aldridge 12.5 - 2 - 49 - 6
Boult 11 - 6 - 15 - 4

Fifty for Brodie in Wellington, with Bell getting out to Bopara for 94 just before lunch.

One thing I can't get over is the strike rates from the domestic bullies Papps, Bell, Sinclair & Cumming in their big innings so far - seems like they're just scoring runs for fun.

All out for under 100? Tell me this is due to the conditions or some brilliant bowling. Reassure me it's not technically inept batsmen getting out here?

Boult in his come back game snares 4 for stuff all. Top draw son.

McGlashan took 6 catches for ND. Williamson took 2... does he field at slip? Eight catches behind the wicket would probably suggest the pitch doing a fair bit.

He got multiple starts last season (20's and 30's) without pushing on. To me that suggests he's good enough, just needs to learn how to convert starts. Reckon they should stick with him, he's young and he's only going to get better.

Given Mathew Sinclair didn't score a century you can probably assume the wickets taken were due to the nature of the pitch. :p ND already two down so looking like a difficult track.
