Perhaps he saw him for the U21s against Macedonia the other week - the whole back 4 looked ropey (including one K Gibbs incidentally) - if that's the future of our defence then we need to hope Terry and Ferdinand can play a few more years.
Didn't see that under-21 but Richards has looked a bit iffy at right-back this season for city, he has regressed a bit. Hughes himself made that comment the other day.

Harsh on Gibbs, since you really can't judge on some a scrubby under-21 game tbf. Everytime i have seen him in Arsenal colours in a serious game, most notably those CL matches last season he has been very impressive.

International Coach
Including the CL match last season where he fell on his arse and gifted a vital away lead in the semi's?

However, I agree, need to start to bring him in now, he's still getting used to the big games, and may **** up a bit now, but rather do it now than when we REALLY need him when Cole's injured for big games (it'll happen at some point). Either way he needs to be eased into international football, cant expect him to perform straight away, even if we wait 5 years. Let him get the international experience under his belt, let him ride the learning curve whilst he's young and the confidence takes far more to knock, and let him learn with the best whilst he's still improving, long term it'll help immensley

Since we don't have a designated football thread for the minor UK countries (World Cup one is clearly not appropriate) I thought I'd post here that Scotland are managing to be 3-0 down away to Wales and it's not even half time yet.

Happy to see Ramsey on the scoresheet, good goal by the sounds of it as well.

Have to say, the pitch looks like a snooker table. Absolutely amazing.

Hard to know what we'll get from the game tho; only Rooney & Barry (probably) would make the first choice XI.

Just for fringe players to push for a place. But just like the Spain friendly earlier this year very disappointed so many BIG players are out injured here, would have been a great to see outr best XI lock horns with Brazil right now.

Ca't expect much with all our quality players injured. Just watch the & hope Brazil dont smoke us.
All they have to do is not give the ball away straight off (which is tending to happen with too many hopeful punts thrown in as well) and you'll gain territory because plays can't chase around too much. England look more dangerous than Brazil in the threatening positions, but England simply give the ball away limply before it gets to that point.

Amazing how when we've got the ball with the keeper or defence I look back to the study I'm doing, look back to the TV and lo and behold the ball is bouncing towards their defence.

Ha, Rooney failing to prove that the English don't dive. Contact, but went down like a sniper had taken him out. I like this ref.
