Apparently Lee wil be back in training next week according to the radio. Elbow soreness from a longstanding bone spur was the cause, not the fact he chucks his quicker one as everyone at CA thought, but didn't have the balls to say.

Siddle's return home seems more precautionary than anything else. But if both he and Lee are in doubt and Doug bowls well, he might jag himself a birth for the 1st Test (assuming he doesn't trip over his cornflakes and break his ankle like every other bastard has this tour).

He's supposed to be rapid, and he has a good old fashioned name "Burt". The type of name blokes used to have when they were hard and didn't run off a field when the weather got too hot.

They're just going around the FC scene now and looking to pick fast bowlers they don't think they'll need this home summer, plainly.

Basically, he's a rugby league player from Newcastle. So Burt suits him.

He took a swagger of wickets last season in the Shield but I really don't think he's a one day bowler. That he went at fives in the last Shield game and has a List A economy of 6+ tends to back me up a bit on that.

I wouldn't say he was "rapid", he's lively though. Siddle pace I guess, maybe a fraction slower.

Do have to have a quiet chuckle to myself at Australia's current injury toll. They've for many years taken for granted McGrath and Warne's incredible ability to bowl bucketloads of overs and not get injured.

Now they're gone, Lee is getting old and all the other bowlers are suffering the usual niggles that 90% of bowlers get. Fortunately no career-threatening injuries yet though.
