Hopes is a very ordinary finisher, he's probably only better than Denesh Ramdin. Hussey and even Hodge are better even though they don't bat that low regularly.

Look mate the **** does hi job, and he does it pretty well at odi level. You tell me you're happier with johnson at 7 at manou at 8, then I'll happily tell you you've got your head up your arse.

Yeah I like Hopes and find it funny that people look at his one day average of low 20s as if he's not doing his job. His Strike Rate says otherwise! 23 off 24 balls is pretty good for an Aussie number 7 who comes in almost always in the last 15 overs.

How did Manou keep in this win??

Siddle is goneburger. Chalk up another injured player, flew home because of side stiffness.
Brett Geeves looked good a couple of days ago, he might be in with a shot. He'd want to watch his no-balls though.

No, actually if you read the post I mentioned the Victorians. No one wants Manou to play international cricket.

Geeves has taken a five-for in his current Shield game, reckon he'll get the call up.

Beyond ridiculous with the injuries, though.

What about giving Dirk Nannes a go?
YEESSSSSS. Nannes must go, otherwise the selectors must be sacked

Hopes' bowling also plays an important role, this little snippet from Cricinfo is interesting:
Cricinfo said:
Since McGrath's retirement, 18 bowlers have bowled in the last ten overs for Australia, and among those who have managed to put in 20 overs or more, only James Hopes, Lee and Mitchell Johnson have gone at under seven per over. Hopes has given away an impressive 222 off 239 balls bowled in the last ten overs of an innings.

State Captain
Hopes is a good finisher, he did well in his last game in terms of finishing. He is a bit suspect when the pressure is on though.

As for Siddle's replacement, McKay should come into the starting 11 and McDonald into the squad. Don't need anymore bowlers with Hilfy, Holland and McKay all fighting for a spot.

Honedtly, this is becoming a ****ing joke.

If a batsman goes down next, send me over - I faced Bollinger for 3 years and he never got me out. Plainly me > Dhoni

I'm enjoying these injuries, lets us see other fellas get a go, its only an ODI series anyway, I just hope it wont affect the start of the Australian summer matches.

I think it's the worry about the upcoming tests that has everyone so frustrated mate.

Yeah, because since coming back into the side, Sehwag has been hopeless.

**** me.
I'll change my mind once Sehwag wins us an ODI against the Aussies from the opening slot. Must be the fact that I haven't been watching a lot of late, but I can't recollect the last time he made a match turning contribution against the Aussies or Saffies since the 2003 WC final.

Yes, no hundreds against either Australia or South Africa in 40 matches isn't great. He would surely be looking to change that this series, rather than scores like 30 off 19.

With Sehvag's style of play, one would expect him to be more successful in shorter format of the game but it's the other way around.
