*Official* Australia in India - ODIs

To state the obvious... 3 key moments:

1. Sehwag's wicket
2. Tendulkar's wicket
3. Ponting's brilliance in the field, and as captain (in the middle overs anyway)

Amazing how in ODI cricket there can be fluctuations over a significant amount of time.

I still like the format, and reckon there is room for both T20 and ODI :)

One of those days for India- when your three best batsmen get a horrific decision, a demon piece of fielding and a leg-side caught-behind you'll do very well to still win the game.

Yeah bad day. Though Yuvi's run was dumb still.

Good for the series though.

Really good contest that. :) Sachin terribly unlucky, really changed the game. Bollinger MOTM for mine, fantastic bowling performance.

Unless Mitch bats higher up the order there's no way his place in the side should be guaranteed. Been a passenger in the ODI side for a while now after such a promising start.

This Australian win should shut up their detractors. The team underperformed and yet won. I was dumbfounded to see eminent commentators like Ravi Shashtri saying live on TV that he does not expect this Australian side to win. India has to realise it has a woeful batting unit outside the big 3.

2-2 now, hmmm, not ideal for India. As well as Jadeja has been bowling, he needs some runs to justify his position, just 15 or 20 from him would have pushed the game our way. As for the others, well, they got starts but didn't convert, not like it is a constant problem, so not too much to worry about there.

Probably look to get Sharma out of the side in favour of Tyagi or Munaf and hope Gambhir is back for the next ODI.

Who is this big three? Gambhir, Sehwag, Tendulkar, Yuvraj and Dhoni are five of the top ODI batsmen.

Gambhir is not yet up there. Sehwag is not one whom I really rate in ODIs, although he is splendid in test matches.
How the hell are Gambhir and Sehwag 'woeful'?

Horrible batting by India. Disgusting! Cannot bat in their own condition now against such an inexperienced bowling unit. They don't deserve this series.

Australia is such an amazing team. What a fighting unit! And the depth in their cricketing talent. Wow!

A bit rough on Jadeja? He's been your best bowler.

Sehwag is once in 20-30 innings player. A bit like Afridi.

Gambhir did not play today didn't he? Also he is an unproven material as far as tight games are concerned. Perhaps "woeful" is a harsh word.

He has bowled well in the series so far, but not tremendously so (very well, not enough for me to, by extension, be questioning Harbhajan's place in the side). Frankly, if we are going to play five bowlers, the number seven needs to chip in some runs down the order and he has not been doing that. By all means, his bowling can keep him in the team, but the odd 15-20 wouldn't hurt.
