AFL Draft

Was my pick for a < 50 gamer.

Int - Robert Dipierdominco - Hawthorn
Surprised no one took him in their 18, one of the great wings, and one of the toughest pllayers ever. Won a Brownlow as well.

I'm pretty sure Rioli was top pick for everybody with the under-50 rule. Almost took him with my pick but I wanted to make sure I got a top class ruckman.

Jono, just do howard's team now. If you pick the remaining starters you can catch up. Doesn't feel right with you not having a team anyway IMO.

I'm sure he wouldn't mind, HJ's easy going.

Yeah just do it Jono, HJ basically said he would't be taking further part because he'd run out of ideas.

I had actually typed in another < 50 gamer, was about to post, and then remembered Rioli
Pretty sure I know who the other one was as well. There's only a few players under 50 that I can think of, and I'd be very surprised if any of them fell to my next pick.

Funnily enough, has anyone ever noticed that the last 3 Rising Stars have all be pick #7? Who's got #7 this year? Could be worth a tenner...

Okay.

HJ/Jono's Team so far:
B: Clement, Prestigiacomo, Archer
HB: *, Bradshaw, Kennelly
C: Hart, *, Deledio
HF: *, Brereton, *
F: Lynch, Lloyd, *
R: *, Ablett Jnr, Cousins

Do I just choose the remaining 6 positions on the field + 1 interchange?

F: Lynch, Lloyd, *
R: *, Ablett Jnr, Cousins

My picks:

1. Centre: Tyson Edwards

Absolute superstar, and has been consistent for many years. Runs like a machine, even today at his age, and can kick goals.

2. HB Flank: Darren Milburn

Surprised to see him still available. Another consistent player over the years. Hard as nails, and offers plenty of run from half-back. You know what you're going to get from him every week.

3. CHB: Leigh Colbert

I am moving Daniel Bradshaw to a Half Forward Flank, and putting Colby in my back line.

What more needs to be said about this guy? Absolutely courageous player.

A back line of Archer, Colbert and Milburn is amazing. They'll each take a player out, and probably get KO'ed at some point in the match themselves. TOUGH!

4. Ruck: Clark Keating

The September Specialist! The man knew how to lift come finals time, and that's what matters to me!

5. Forward Pocket: Nick Davis

Mercurial, brilliant on his day and an amazing kick at goal. Who can forget THAT last quarter vs. Geelong in the 2005 semi-final? Not to mention, he was the catalyst for the Sydney come-back in the 2006 grand final. This often goes unnoticed, but Sydney wouldn't have got close had it not been for him.

Too bad his relations soured with Paul Roos, I reckon he had more to offer.

6. HF Flank #1: Andrew Embley

Following in my theme of players that lift in September, I'm choosing the 2006 Norm Smith medallist. One of the most versatile players in the league, his height allows him to play forward, yet his pace and skill see him as a valuable player on the wing.

Injuries have denied him from being what he could have been. He showed that he still has it this year, played very well. In particular that brilliant game vs. the Doggies to allow West Coast to have their first away win in years.

7. Interchange #1: Matthew Knights

Underrated gun, even by many Tiger fans. Was a brilliant leader despite the patheticness of the team around him in the 90s, and also terrific midfielder during his peak. Can't believe he only won two Richmond B+Fs.

Was shattered when I heard he was coaching the Essendon scum :(

HJ/Jono's Team so far:

B: Clement, Prestigiacomo, Archer
HB: Milburn, Colbert, Kennelly
C: S. Hart, T Edwards, Deledio
HF: Bradshaw, Brereton, Embley
F: Lynch, Lloyd, N Davis
R: Keating, Ablett Jnr, Cousins
Int: Knights

Not a bad effort considering the late start. :)

Yeah, Knights was on my radar as well. Re Davis and Roos I think what you mean is "too bad Davis is an immature, ungrateful c***, and lazy into the picture as well". Good player tho...

Jono

Virat Kohli (c)
Yeah Davis was a lazy ****, and full of himself, but surely Roos knew what he would get with him.

Is he pursuing a career in NFL like he spoke of?

Who knows? But as you said he was instrumental in a successful September campaign so it was well worth it for Sydney. Hell, Collingwood would love to win a prelim over Geelong at some stage :(
