Tbh the whole concept of the "bragging rights" ppv strikes me as a bit stupid tbh. Surely a tag team match for brand dominance would be best saved for Survivor Series in about a months time?

I quite like the idea tbh, would have been better with the world champs fighting each other but you won't sell a PPV without a world title match

I suppose I don't mind the concept that much, but I imagine we'll see more of the same at Survivor Series. Or perhaps more likely a Team DX vs Team Legacy, or Team Orton vs Team DiBiase or whatever.

There are plenty who don't like Michaels of course, including some that I like a lot from this thread, such as duffer IIRC. Some will point to him being a low-drawing champion when he was the top guy in 96-97, although I'll always dispute that and point to the fact that he carried WWf back then in the face of a dominant WCW stacked with midcarders, whereas the F had HBK, Taker, Bret & Foley, Foley wasn't anywhere near as over as he would become a couple of years later either back then.

For me Michaels is one of the reasons I watch wrestling. brilliant in the ring, brilliant on the mic. Plays a great face, plays a great heel. Can entertain, can have you hanging on his every word with emotive promos. Would take sick bumps in his prime (the first HIAC would be revered so much more if Foley hadn't tried to kill himself eight months later) and basically do pretty much anything to put on a good show.

Of course, he had a huge ego and cocaine habit (they do tend to go hand in hand) back in the pre-attitude era, but since his return he has put anyone and everyone over. He's a legend.
I think for pure versatility you'd be very very hard pressed to top what Michaels brings to the table, but I'd still put him below the Rock, Austin and Taker with regards to his legacy which I do believe he tarnished greatly during his ego periods.

Personally don't buy his born again Christian gimmick although he did soften his stance a lot but I do still believe him and his friends dominance of the ME scene during their peaks to be completely unnecessary. I think his "carrying the company" is very overstated though. I think they had more depth than you give them credit for and the overness was far more evenly spread although without any truly bonafide superstars there.

He needed Bret and others just as much as they needed him to keep WWF relevant post roids scandals and together they did it brilliantly although he probably never wanted to acknowledge that until later in his life. Could go on a many paragraphed rant regarding my thoughts but it's just such a tired argument for mine, although in my defence I've never disputed his in-ring quality and from what I've read he seems to be a rather gifted wrestling coach as well, which means he can probably keep contributing to the business well into his retirement.

Is he a legend? Yes. Do I think he's a complete ****? Yes. Is he in the conversation for the g.o.a.t? Possibly, although I think he is a level below the "big three" so to speak. Would put him with the Takers, Flairs etc.

EDIT: Fwiw, I think his face work is overrated. He was entertaining and funny when I was 12 but hasn't been for a while. Needs a new gimmick, a 40 something guy calling himself the ***y boy or whatever. Heh. His heel work was truly outstanding though. One of the best ever.

The tag team match and iron man match from last night sounds pretty good value. Looks like we'll be getting DX vs Jericho and Show now, interesting. Slightly apprehenisve about seeing HHH in a program with Jericho again...but we'll see.

Seemed like an okay show. The biggest news coming out of the show was the Batista heel turn. Hopefully this makes his character a little interesting. Great to see Smackdown winning the Bragging Rights match and Cena winning was a bit surprising.

Haha must have missed taht when I saw the results, I didn't really pay attention to the feedback for that particular match once I found out who the victor was.

Yeah after the match, an in ring interview he just turned on him. Somebody called a Batista vs Mysterio feud in here I think. Was reading an online article that Batista complained that Rey's talent was being wasted so maybe he feels he can put him over himself?

Haven't seen it tbh.
Oh. It was on Smackdown last week or perhaps the week before. Mysterio hit the West Coast Pop, got the three even though Batista had his shoulder up after the one count, because the referee 'couldn't see'.

It was announced on RAW last night that Big Show will be the next challenger for The Undertaker's World Heavyweight title at the upcoming Survivor Series pay-per view. Big Show revealed it during the opening segment of RAW, claiming he "struck a deal" with Teddy Long because Team SmackDown! won Bragging Rights.
Oh god not this **** again. How many times do we have to sit through this before the E finally realise that it has been done to death and wasn't very good the first time round.

The Triple Threat between Cena, HBK and HHH actually strikes me as being quite a good prospect, will look forward to seeing where this goes, but I really hope it doesn't spawn another HHH/HBK feud, unless it is for the World Championship and is part of a build up for HBK leaving the company around Wrestlemania time.

Big win for Kofi Kingston on RAW last night as well, pinning Chris Jericho. Sounds like he is really getting over at the moment, and as it appears he is about to be put in a feud with Orton that he could really get some sort of rub and be going places.

Giving a big push to Kofi Kingston is fine by me. I've been waiting for the WWE to push the younger guys on Raw and a feud between Kofi Kingston and Randy Orton could be awesome. Kofi's promo on Orton this week was brilliant and it proves that there is great young talent who are ready to step up and become stars.

Having Shawn Michaels being part of the main event at Survivor Series is a smart move and he'll make it a great match. Plus the dynamic between Shawn Michaels and Triple H will be interesting as they'll be opponents. Feel bad for CM Punk as he seems lost in the shuffle now that Big Show is now facing Undertaker so it'll be interesting to see where he ends up on the card.

Thought they were pretty good last time around tbh.

Have they feuded since 2002 at all? That was pretty epic IMO, and I'd love to see it purely for a HHH heel turn. Does his best stuff then.

I didn't know they had discarded the Jamaican schtick completely (in one of those moods with wrestling atm), but gee he has some ability on the mic. Why they wasted him for so long is beyond me. The stuff on the car was great.

To give them their credit they worked it well, as you would expect from two pros like them. But at the same time, it just really did not interest me, just because it had been done over and over already. That said I'm not overly keen on watching Show wrestle full stop.

Well, it kind of was still going on up until early 2004, as that was the main event at the Royal Rumble that year, then they had their hell in a cell contest at Bad Blood later on, it was a very good feud tbh, but at the same time, I'm not really sure there would be any real reason to revisit it at this stage, unless as I say, it would be for the purpose of winding HBK down for his retirement or whatever, in which case I would actually advocate it.

I had no idea that they had dropped the Jamaican gimmick tbh, but that's a massive step in the right direction and suggests that they really are trying to give him a serious push if they've abandoned this funny face stuff. Would actually be interested to hear one of his new promos if they are as good as you say, because lord knows his attempt at a Jamaican accent was absolutely dire.

Watched it out of interest myself earlier, is on the WWE website imho. Not bad at all, quite enjoyed it.
