Looks like Dan the Man will still be at no.8 if you want to play both Ryder and Elliott.

Evens things somewhat when you consider NZ's injury woes leading into this series

Why is everyone so against Taylor batting at number 3? If I remember correctly he started out at number 3 in the ODI side and had good results, in fact most of his hundreds have come at 3 have they not?

Athlai

Not Terrible
Taylor at 3 has a lot of trouble getting started, though he has scored some good hundreds in that positions. His batting is more suited to middle-lower order at this stage of his career, and considering how much pressure has already been thrown on his shoulders I'd say we should let him play how he wants to. He should have never been made our top batsman so early in his career.

Xuhaib

International Coach
good to see Asif not there will allow him more 4 day games under his belt which will be vital when the the tests starts later onwards.

And yet he is just the latest in a long line. Fleming was made no.3/4 too early, as was Crowe. The fact is our senior batsmen don't play long enough to allow the new guys to enter at no.5/6.

I wouldn't call him a "big hitter" but he can score fairly quickly. Ton's of ability imo, and has yet to reach it in our domestic cricket.
So far in his FC and List A career he has scored his runs very slowly. Can only hope it's the old story of "he'll score faster on faster, truer international pitches".

Called it. Even with our success in the CT I haven't liked Moles at all tbh. If this is true and New Zealand looks for a new coach I really hope we get someone high profile, Steve Waugh anyone????

The point of having someone 'high profile' is to have someone who has proven himself over time as being good at the job, not just to have a name. What's Steve Waugh done in coaching? Might as well appoint Helen Clark. :p

Was really just throwing a name out their tbh, I've just always thought he'd do a fantastic job as a coach and the younger player's in our team (pretty much the whole team) need someone who's had success at the test level, (yes as a player not a coach, but still....)

A high profile coach might put some people back in their place "cough McCullum"

A trained monkey would be better than moles ok.

I find this talk of replacing Moles really interesting. Have to say firstly it's hard for a cricket fan to assess how good a coach is (and moreso for me not living in NZ). NZ cricket was in a pretty deep hole when he took over and a fair amount of leeway needed to be given to any new coach. I would have thought that now, after a year in charge, is when we should start expecting real signs of improvement (talking test cricket here), such as beating Pakistan at home.

But if Vettori really has been 'coaching the team for the last 6 months' then the coach is obviously not doing his job. Have to remember that he was the third choice after the Australian guy and South African (from memory). Or 4th choice if you include John Wright as well. Clearly NZC struggled to attract good applicants.

Which is something I find quite interesting. I wouldn't mind knowing from someone that isn't a NZ fan (no bias and what not) is this New Zealand team good looking enough, (as having enough fututre talent) to want to coach?

u dont no Moles. i am sure he is doing his best. u should pull you're head in

i'd agree with u normally but coaching at the top level is very easy ok. It's all about getting the players to run a couple of laps around the ground and making sure they don't break their curfews and showing up to photo ops and things like that. and this guy moles cant even manage that. he's gotta go.
