Well aware of that. He's 30, though......He's Jewish.
Yeah wasn't the greatest that they had no room for Haydos. With some justification, Taylor didn't rate Kasper/Dale/Bichel basically because it was felt that their wicket tallies in Shield cricket were inflated by bowler-friendly conditions up north. Okay, fine. Problem is that the same logic apparently didn't extend to their batsman team-mate who was still considered little more than a flat-track bully at the time......No
Dead set.
Late bloomer.Well aware of that. He's 30, though......
Far, far too soon.6 for by walter at the waca is it too soon to talk him up for a baggy green and james smith too.
Yea i remember this, does seem a bit biased i guess. But Lee was getting alot of hype before that MCG test anyway, so ATT with Kasper just seeming a decent option without being fantastic, its pretty clear why the young tearaway was given a go especially againts a vulnerable Indian side.Kaspa didn't escape it under Waugh either. I remember back in 99/00 season. He had a pretty good game at the 'Gabba and then got robbed of blatant wickets in the 2nd test, but after that he was replaced by Lee.
It was the first bad series of his career at that time, i dont think many people then would have expected Lee to suddenly start being that average in tests after then. Plus its not as is Kasper had enhanced his claims via his performances in IND 01 either. But at the end of the day with Mcgrath/Gillespie/Warne there, AUS clearly could have worked with Lee without being handicapped by Lee anyway as it proved. It was obvious Lee was one of Waugh's favourites when he didn't get dumped after one of the worst ever Ashes series for a bowler in 2001.
Yeah, but it's not like Lee was keeping a QLDer out. Fleming was on that tour and given he was a swing bowler it was a stupid selection not to see him play in the 5th test at least. It was the first bad series of his career at that time, i dont think many people then would have expected Lee to suddenly start being that average in tests after then. Calm down. From me, most of it was in jest. I do think though that Hayden and Kasprowicz in particular were not so much harshly treated by selectors but were chaps who needed to be loved and shown warmth by their skipper and to a lesser extent the selectors. Taylor simply didn't do that. By contrast, look at what Tugga did for Haydos; what Ponting's done for Watson. Fact is, some guys need the skipper to put their arm around them, while there are others who need a kick in the pants. That's a big part of captaincy - reading personalities.completely agree with chamindas post above can't stand all the bull**** queensland complaining.
Yeah wish I was going, actually still might for the second innings.Love the depth of pace bowling in Queensland. No Sullivan, no Laughlin, no Swan, no Harris and yet can still field a pace bowling lineup of 3 future prospects (Cutting, Mcdermott and Walter) and one of the better ODD bowlers last season in Rimmington.
Should be a good game at the Gabba, two young teams, few new faces to keep an eye on.

Anyways.
