I'm pretty certain that's what they were shooting for until Hogan had back surgery. I know they were talking Hogan/Cena, but Jericho/Hogan would have fit the storyline so much better than Piper, Steamboat and Snuka.
TBF Piper, Steamboat and Snuka actually turned out ok, a much better match than expected. Hogan vs Jericho would have drawn a hell of a lot more though obv.

Quick look at the results from the PPV last night leave me with a sense of "meh". Will post a detailed break down of my thoughts later on.

I didn't catch the show either because I really wasn't too interested. But looking at the results, nothing seemed really great. Apparently now we have Orton vs Cena again in a 60 minute Ironman match at Bragging Rights. Please just end this feud already, I think by now everyone has had enough.

WWE is so dull at the moment apart from Smackdown and I don't understand why they can't have some fresh matches on PPV's. I'm looking forward to The Rock guest hosting Raw though as well as a possible Bret Hart return.

I like the sound of a Cena Orton Iron Man match tbh. Haven't seen HIAC yet though, am told it was...reasonable.

Booker T is considering signing with WWE after his TNA deal expires. It seems that he's frustrated with creative in TNA and there is a story going around that he didn't want to put over Matt Morgan. Having followed Booker T's career for so long, that doesn't sound anything like him. I would like to see him back in WWE though as his TNA run has been ordinary.

Caught a bit of HIAC last night, the Orton-Cena match and the main event (why was it the main event?). Orton-Cena was good barring an awfully executed finish, the DX match was quality, Shawn is a god in my eyes and he showed why

I would also quite like to see him back in the WWE, hope the story about him refusing to put over Matt Morgan is untrue though, Morgan really deserves a bit of a run, and it's not like Booker is in anything but the last days of his career pretty much. Does sound completely out of character though so I would not be surprised to find out that this is just not true.

You never broke down what you thought of it :(
Haha I didn't actually watch it to be honest, so I have no idea what the matches were like. But generally I wasn't too happy with the world title matches. Cena losing makes little sense to me, would have been better if Orton had just never lost it if he was going to win it back so soon. Would have much preferred Punk to have retained as well, but it's hardly surprising that he didn't perhaps.

Punk winning in the Cell was never going to happen. There's only so many times you can run screwy endings before the fans say enough is enough. Whether 'Taker was the right man to take the title is a completely different story, though.

Presume that Punk and Taker will go one more time at the next PPV and Punk will get the belt back there I reckon

Would have thought so tbh, hate the way the world titles get thrown around these days though, kind of takes the shine off them somewhat. A guy like Edge (though he certainly deserves to be a world champion) would have been served so much better if he had fewer, more lengthy title reigns rather than the huge amount or short ones he's been given, the fact that Edge has now held a world title more times in the space of about 3-4 years than HBK has in his entire career doesn't really sit well with me, though I don't begrudge Edge any of his success.

It's a four way match at Bragging Rights now. Good move as I think that's the only way they are going to get the belt back on to CM Punk without The Undertaker losing cleanly.

Shane O'Mac announces his retirement from the WWE today, dark day for me, was always my favourite McMahon. Also means the company is getting ever closer to HHH's grubby fingers

Very sad times indeed.

Shane McMahon posted the following statement on WWE.com:

It is with great sadness that I announce my resignation from the WWE, effective January 1, 2010.

I have never even considered a future outside the walls of the WWE. However, sometimes life takes an unexpected turn and while it is the most difficult decision I have ever made, it is time for me to move on.

First and foremost, I would like to thank my father for the incredible education working with him has provided and for giving me the opportunity to play a role in building WWE into the global phenomenon that it is today. I am extremely proud to have been the 4th generation in this business, and I am grateful for everyday I was able to work along side not only my own, but the entire WWE family.

Thank you to all of the WWE Superstars both past and present for your passion, pride and dedication. You are truly the engine of the organization and it has been a pleasure to work with, learn from and get to know all of you. Thank you for the privilege of sharing the stage with you and for allowing me to become but a momentary member of your elite brotherhood. I have so much appreciation for the many sacrifices you endure, both physically and personally, to make this business the success that it is. The respect I have for each of you is immeasurable.

Finally, there are no words to express my gratitude to WWE fans the world over for supporting this company through good times and bad and for your unbridled passion that fuels the Superstars’ performances. I am profoundly grateful to have been able to entertain you both in front of the camera and from behind the scenes. You are the greatest fans in the world.

I will always love this business and will remain a fan forever.

Shane
He was also my favourite McMahon, and seemed to often be the voice of reason whilst Stephanie and Vince were trying to push through terrible ideas and storylines, not to mention a good performer in the ring when asked. I had hopes that he would take over from Vince once Vince decided to pass the reigns on, but now it sadly seems that they will be handed over to Stephanie and HHH. The Company will be poorer without him imo, wish him well in whatever he does and will always remember his contribution to the E. His matches at WM X7 and the Ambulance Match against Kane will live long in the memory, not to mention his run as the European champion and as a heel manager, WAG.

I think Shane was everyone's favourite McMahon. It's really disappointing to see him leave, but I understand that he wants to try new things in his career. In his corporate role he's been fantastic expanding WWE all over the world and bringing much success to WWE in terms of magazines, video games, home video and international markets.

As a performer, he was always one of the better on camera performers and some of the stuff he's done with people like Kurt Angle and Kane has been fantastic. I think it's kind of sad too that Stephanie McMahon and Triple H seem like the ones who will lead the company after Vince McMahon.

Shane's influence was really good too. He was a supporter of the high action, athletic style of wrestling and wanted to incorporate the MMA style into WWE. He always seemed to support the smaller wrestlers as well. I think WWE will miss him, but I don't blame him for wanting to explore other opportunities.

Is quite significant in some ways to be actually, Shane O'Mac was another one of the "old guard" so to speak for me, always amongst the scenes and on the screen when I was growing up watching. Really wish there was some place where you could download all the old episodes of Smackdown and RAW from about 1998 through to 2005.

Shane was so good in the ring, always said he could have been a wrestler if he wasn't in the business side of things. Other than that I just echo what you two said, Shane0Mac FTW, his matches with Blackman and Angle FTW

Got to laugh at TNA at the moment, the company they are using to advterise their events have leaked an advert which reveals who wins the Bound For Glory Match between Sting and AJ, pretty funny, but the TNA management must be so annoyed, seeing as this is the ME of their biggest PPV of the year.

TNA always seem to come off as second rate to WWE and this is another reason why.
