Got nothing against them.

Would like them a lot more if this guy was still around though.

Right, well, you've grasped the main things...

Brazil 0-0 Venezuela
Chile 1-0 Ecuador
Paraguay 0-2 Colombia (teams will probably be doing cartwheels at the prospect of getting half-fit Paraguay tbh)
Peru 1-0 Bolivia (Bolivia's two wins over Argentina and Brazil keep them ninth)
Uruguay 0-1 Argentina

In the Norf, Honduras won 1-0 in El Salvador, forcing Costa Rica to hold on to the 2-0 lead they'd wrested into before half-time. Bizarrely, though, Michael Bradley and Jonathan Bornstein put in goals to send Costa Rica into the play-offs instead. Honduras' largely home-based squad go into the World Cup for the first time since 1986.

El Salvador 0-1 Honduras
United States 2-2 Costa Rica

Am exceptionally unimpressed with everyone I know at the moment. Have been desperately trying to get people together to go to the game in Wellington, but have had no luck. Family can't come for various reasons, friends are either overseas or too lazy to come to Wellington, and sent an email around my section at work but have had absolutely no responses. GAGFCs.

Hate it when you can't find someone to go the footy with, so frustrating :(

When's the match btw?

November 14.

Tickets are selling really quickly. If I can't find anyone to go with, I might just have to sellotape an L to my forehead and go by myself. Could be a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Still weighing up whether to go, but won't be able to buy a ticket for a couple of weeks. If you're feeling particularly desperate and there are still tickets available in a fortnight, let me know.

Cheers for the offer, but I'd say tickets will be long gone by then. They've sold another 10,000 since Monday, so there's only around 5000 left. Have decided that if noone gets back to me by tomorrow night then I'm just going to buy one myself.

How the hell does that association get three and a half places at the World Cup.

Going to the footy alone is completely socially acceptable IMO.

I'd go for sure if i wasn't on the other side of the world.

Yeah agreed, effectively you aren't really "going alone" even if you do go along by yourself tbh. As usually you strike up some sort of rapport with the fans around you for the 90 minutes if the atmosphere is any good. I often find myself talking to randoms at football matches if I go along by myself.

Watching Argentina last night, they where almost unrecognisable in personnel & style. I wont be too afraid if they keep that up going into the WC.

Keeping my eye on France though, still look the best team on the world on paper behind Spain & Brazil.

Nfi. Just merge the thing with CONMEBOL already and give the lot seven spots. (Though tbf, Costa Rica haven't been quite as useless as Saudi Arabia at the Cup.)

Then again, FIFA has never been big on awarding World Cup places on merit.
