Excellent finish tho it was, unless we take five strikers (which is possible, but would seem excessive in a squad which barring injury will include Walcott & Gerrard, both of whom can play the auxiliary striker role) I can't see how we can unless we leave Defoe out. The way I see it currently is:

Rooney
Two of Heskey, Cole or Crouch
Defoe

Think Fab likes a big guy for the other striker to play off, so he'll take two in case one gets broken in the tournament, so reckon Owen's up against it still. Doesn't have the pace of Defoe anymore (or that of Agbonlahor or Bent if it comes to that), so he needs another 12-15 of those this season as a minimum to give himself a chance.
Tbh, they'll need to score a stack of goals to compensate for the flood that could potentially be going in at the other end

Seriously, how bad were Rio, Lescott and Johnston over the weekend?

It's all relative. If Citeh were anything other than crap in comparison to United then they wouldn't whine like dogs about playing an extra 90 seconds when the scoreline's 3-3, don't you think?

I'm not specifically talking about you here, btw
Tbh side who was crap in comparison to United would not put three goals past them.

We've just won the greatest Manchester derby of all-time with a 96th-minute goal.

No trouble in our house mate.
Well tbh, looking very average against Arsenal and needing a mountain of injury time to see of city (whether it was deserved or not) does not exactly indicate that all is well.

Any crap side can put 3 past us when we gift them like that.

Fantastic game from an attacking view point, both teams a bit poor on the defensive side to say the least

Haha, how was Bellamy's first a gift? You could criticise them for standing off him a bit, but it was an exceptional goal.
Yeah agreed, it was against the run of play, but it was pretty un-saveable, you can't really criticise the defence or the keeper for it to the point to say they were truly at fault for it.

It wouldn't have been a great game if City were crap. They were good, and they capitalised on mistakes like a good club should. The only thing they need to do less of is focusing so much on the referee instead of the poor ball retention in the second half on their end. If they had played as well as they did in the first half they'd have possibly won the game.

Mistakes always happen, it's just that some clubs are able to take advantage whereas others don't.

I do think that City were playing for a draw near the end of the game, though, and if they want to show themselves as contenders then instead of Hughes tapping his watch a lot at 94 minutes, he should be urging his players to get the ball down the other end instead. He gave the impression that he really wanted the game to end as it was. Very early days for City though and I do believe they have top four potential this season.

Fantastic game, though. I watched it with my girlfriend's Dad, and he doesn't support either side (doesn't support any side, actually, but does constantly watch games - just loves footy I guess) and he said it was possibly the best game he'd seen for many years.

Just an interesting point, all Arsenal teams at all age levels are now playing with the 4-3-3 formation.

Well, needless giveaway in midfield by Evra about 30 seconds before, when he headed straight to a City player. No arguments with the finish though, absolutely crackin. However the chance game from a very sloppy header back from Evra

I wouldn't say that Evra was to blame for the goal though - it was unstoppable and the team should have recovered to some state of composure within 30 seconds. Giving the ball away in midfield was obviously an error by Evra but no worse than any other error that leads to any other goal out there.

City aren't really a bad side, obviously, but there's a seriously weak spot in dealing with crosses and set pieces. No wonder they stuffed Arsenal.

City caught us on the break because of the error, the speed and skill of Bellamy didnt give us time to get back into shape. Yes a fantastic goal, wont begrudge that, but it was our error who set it up, and shouldn't have given a needless ball away in our own half in the first place.

Agree with cpr, Evra clearly at fault for Bellamy's first, although there's obviously no denying that it was a class goal.

Still, even if you have that one, the other two were undoubtedly gifts.

Hmm. Can say that about any goal really, they can all be traced back to a member of your team losing the ball. It was a gift in the sense that he only had to run at the defence, find some space and curl a 25-yard screamer into the top corner.
