Denly hit one of Lee's for 4 this morning.
Edged it over second slip tbh.

Denly's not very good. Looked mildly less useless than he did against Ireland but still pretty crap.

English commentators learning from CW, really struggling to give Hauritz any credit here. Strauss and Bopara both got out trying to sweep him to the boundary but they still insist he's only done well because no one's gone after him.

Took Shah's edge too, but they were too preoccupied with T-Paine jogging towards the umpire whilst appealing. What an evil man.

Watson's bowling at a decent pace. How long until he breaks a bone?

Take the powerplay ffs. Leave it any longer and both of these muppets will get out leaving the powerplay to the tail again. Be lucky to get 240 from here.

Eoin is such a poor player, making Bracken look like Akram and Watson like McGrath. Trotters is better surely.

That is excellent wicket-keeping right there. Brilliant stumping from Paine. Still not quite up there with James Foster King of Wicket-keeping's from the other night, but certainly an impressive piece of work. Was incredibly quick to whip the bails off.

Morgan gone. Powerplay will be left to Bresnan and Sidebottom again.

Add to the fact that Morgan is blatantly Irish. Admittedly it is a slight bit of double standards from me given I want the likes of Kieswetter in our team, but poaching players like Joyce and Morgan when they've already represented a different country is total bollocks. Shouldn't be allowed.

And if we are gonna take Irish players at least pick the good ones ffs.

And can we take the PowerPlay please? Luke Wright's the cleanest hitter we have. I'm gonna be fuming if we take it after he gets out.

They have better ones than Joyce and Morgan? =/

And can we take the PowerPlay please? Luke Wright's the cleanest hitter we have. I'm gonna be fuming if we take it after he gets out.
This. It will be left until the last 5 overs though, it's guaranteed. Just take it now. Please.

THEY'VE TAKEN THE POWERPLAY :D Only need about a hundred runs off this last 9 overs. Not too much to ask is it?.....

The Irish must have some physio or something who can bat better than Morgan. Take him instead; can't be much worse. The selectors have only picked him 'coz he's got good wrists and so they immediately assume he's a gap finding, boundary scoring run machine. He's not, he's a good hurler. And people who are good at obscure Irish sports shouldn't be picked for England.

I think he was picked on Sky hype. Made that 150 on Sky, picking gaps with ease, playing reverse sweeps and dab sweeps etc and was mega hyped. Just hasn't looked good enough to do it at International level. Think we'd be better off picking Trott as opposed to the Irish physio though tbf.

Wright gone. Good bowling from Lee. Can't see us getting to 260/270 now.

Denly's not very good.
Yeah. The very fact that about 50% of people don't think it's an absolute disgrace to see him in the team makes him one of the most over-rated one day cricketers of all time. Domestically he averages in the low 30s and strikes at 70 - even if he converted that completely to the international level (which I actually doubt given what I've seen of his technique) it still wouldn't be anywhere near good enough. Now I'm sure people will remind me that he's averaging 60 odd this season, but it's worth noting that 'this season' only consists of 8 games and that the average is held in place by one game in which he scored a ton. His entire career is a much better sample size.

There seems to be an attitude around the place that suggests one's career starts the moment they are picked internationally and what they've domestically means nothing once it happens. I hate that. If Ian Bell had played the innings that Denly has in this series there'd be page upon page of criticism simply because, unlike Denly, he's been given the chance to show how bad he is in ODIs previously. Now I'm not saying Bell should have been picked (far from it) but he has a lot more going for him than Denly really.

Knowing my strike rate for things like this, he'll come out in the next game and hit a ton and this post will be bumped, but I'd still have absolutely no confidence in him as an ODI player at all. Ian Bell himself has ODI hundreds.. so does Vikram Solanki.. it doesn't stop them from being treated like the jokes they are (and by some posters, much bigger jokes than even that).
