DIdn't they play together (and then leave together) at Somerset for a number of years as great mates?
Yup, both played for Somerset from about 79-86 along with Botham from memory, would be extremely surprised if that spat is for real

What's the story on that one?
Vaughan called Smith 'the witness' because there was a dispute between both captains about bad light. The umps sided with Smith and Vaughan allegedly used rather abusive language which landed him in hot water. There was a subsequent hearing and Smith gave evidence against Vaughan which led to him labelling him as such. When he released a book a few years later he devoted quite a few paragraphs to explaining why he doesn't like Smith.

Cullinan and Warne
McGrath and Sarwan
Warne and Ranatunga
Fleming and Smith

Fleming actualy doesnt hate Smith. Said in his book the abuse was intended to wind up Smith so he didnt concentrate on the job. Bracewell tipped him off to Smiths emotional reactiveness apparently.

So what about when Bedi called Murali a 'chucker' and questioned SRT in big match moments?
bedi is a street fighter i agree. but he always wanted to be the best in business and always honestly strove for india's success; same as gavaskar. but bedi and murali may qualify as subjects for this thread.

The thing is, I don't recall Murali ever saying anything negative in Bedi's direction.

tbh, I'd be surprised if there are actually many opponents Warne actually dislikes off the field. When not playing cricket, he seems to be the type who thrives on being liked, and who is prepared to give people a chance - he'll mess up relationships by being selfish, but not through malice. Sure there are plenty who dislike him however. Stuff like him sledging Cullinan and Bell is - strangely - probably really done with very little actual malice. Not saying that makes it ok, or not rude or whatever.

Was there actually any bad blood between those two though? Never thought it was more than a case of Cullinan being Warne's bunny.
Personal for Cullinan. He comes across on SuperSport as being fairly bitter about everything surrounding his test career.

I get the impression he's not too enamoured of Collingwood. In his commentary the sarcasm etc. suggests that there's a bit of schadenfreude there when Collingwood fails.

I think he's patched up his relationship with Smith. I read an interview recently where the latter said that they really get on and Warne was quite generous in his praise of Smith during his commentary stints over last summer.

He obviously has very little time for Collingwood as a cricketer, if he dislikes him personally I am not so sure.

I'd guess that might be fairly typical of many of the guys who clashed with Warne on the field, if they later had a chance to spend time with him in a non-confrontational setting. I think Ian Bell and he would have got along if they'd played together for county or IPL or whatever...

In the bio of Warne I've just finished (Shane Warne, Portrait of a Flawed Genius by Simon Wilde, ftr) it traces it back to their 93 tour. Cullinan hadn't been long in the team and was giving some of the more experienced Aussie batsmen a pretty thorough sledging when they probably had no idea who he was. The perception was he hadn't paid his dues and SKW gave him a few send-offs after dismissing him (a particularly juicy one at the SCG, apparently) and it all spiralled from there.

Warne dismissed him four times in that three-match tour and when Cullinan sought the help of a sports psychologist to help his "visualisation", Warne was only too happy to suggest he'd needed to see a shrink after their last encounter.

EDIT: When Darryl dismissed Warne in a one-dayer in 1997 he allegedly sent him back to the pavillion with the words "Go and deflate yourself you ****ing balloon", so there was bad blood on Cullinan's side anyway.

Whatever it takes!!!
Lara and Hooper fell out dreadfully towards the end of Hooper's career. Lara ended up as captain and Hooper retired.

Shiv Chanderpaul apparently came to blows with Curtly Ambrose in a dressing room bust up. Shiv was a combative young man at the time and Curtly was always a moody individual.

Then of course there is the famous incident on a plane where Franklyn Rose injured Jimmy Adams when he got in the way of an object that Rose tried to throw at Lara.

The current head of the WIPA, Dinanath Ramnarine did not get on at all with Carl Hooper. Ramnarine was a brilliant leg spinner but was notoriously lazy. Hooper was captain and got fed up with him and told the WICB Ramnarine would not play for the West Indies again whilst he was captain. It is this treatment that has fuelled Ramnarine's hatred of all things WICB and made him such a strong union leader.
funny that Hooper should fume at someone for being "lazy".. When he played, he seemed to be the very definition of that word.. :p

gavaskar and bedi have had some embarassing public spats but i doubt it if they actually "hate" each other. both had the same agenda - honor for india and a place in the hall of fame - and same attitude - i know what i am doing so you listen to me. obviously ended up treading on each other's toes more than once.
SJS, can u shed some light on sunil and Bedi differences?

Botham managed to offend one or two of the Pakistanis - 'mother-in-law' jibe in 1984, to the fore in the ball-tampering row in 1992, and generally not getting along with them. I don't think he & Imran are best of chums.
the MIL story continued in 92WC final when after botham knicked akram to moin and was trying to make a scene out of it, Aamir Sohail, who was at slip came close to Ian and told him " Now Go And Send Your F*&^% MIL to win this one for you"

No I'm not joking. I realise that the word P*ki doesn't necessarily have the same connotations in Australia as it does in England. But even so the audience (about 2 or 3 hundred people - almost all of us white) cringed.
Edit: As you'll see, I think you're right GIMH.

Interestingly he never bowled singl ball to Javed in his life.

Can you tell little more about that speech, what did he say and why was javed brought into discussion, did he say anything else about other cricketrs...like Arjuna or anyone else?
