IPL criticisms

At least a week to 10 days minimum to 2 weeks minimum between tournaments, regardless of the short nature. Especially if all the best players from each side are going to participate in it, thats crazy player burnout.
A maximum of 20 games in 45 days - hardly crazy burnout when you consider each game is so short.

I dare say most of the players in the Ashes will have done more than that, so maybe the Ashes should be scrapped or reduced?

As i said use the example of the IND team going into the T20 WC this year. They had about a week break between the IPL & the WC, thats not good enough.

Can't we plant fraud evidence or something on the IPL? Make it look like they did a Stanford?

This may be a bit of an extreme reaction and I doubt the ICC give a toss what I think, but personally if IPL ends up going for six months of the year ( I bet they'll try) and players choose 20/20 over test cricket, I won't be watching. I have better things to do...

...than watch some soulless whore of a franchise play an elaborate game of hit it for six. What a boring sport that would be.
Manchester utd wouldn't give a toss if someone in Liverpool doesn't like their club. The same goes for the IPL clubs?:p

Modi should change it to after the world 20 cup, this is rediculous programming, their will be no overseas players,it will be just like the ranji trophy.

I don't think that's true. There'll be no Australian front-line players, that's all.

Though the only good thing to come out of this is, all this T20 cricket that is likely to be played in the upcoming few years, could lead to the over-kill of the format, and hence quality formats of the game like ODI and test cricket might make stronger comebacks.
LOL ODI..quality format....

No. But this all comes back to the ICC not being a proper governing body. No team should go into a World Cup, with so little time between tournaments.
Yeah, the ICC does pretty much whatever the BCCI tell them, and the BCCI are only out for themselves. So the scheduling is hardly surprising.

What is even more of a scandal is that there is a World T20 just 10 months after the last one finished. Even more shameless money-grabbing...
Quicker the Twenty20 golden goose is forced to work, quicker the eggs will stop coming...

My hope is that if those in charge of the IPL (and World Twenty20s) overdo it really, really badly, everyone might get bored of Twenty20 much quicker than I'd originally imagined.

Just hope that the outcome is more proper and one-day cricket, rather than Ten10 or Five5.

To add to what Richard said...

Its the pitches that are really killing formats like tests and ODI's, flat tracks are virtually taking the skill factor out of the game, and as a result we get to see so many poor tests and ODI's these days, if the pitches can be improved upon, then surely both tests and ODI's have the ability to produce quality of cricket far better than what a T20 game can.

Regardless of pitches, i'd still rate any cricket in a test or ODI to contain more skill than that of a T20.

4 and 6 a lot of s african and aussie state players play in ipl for eg sean marsh.
Fact is these state players will get no nocs' fo the first half/3 quarters of the ipl.

So what makes you so sure those players won't be allowed, yet according to you NZ cricket is on the verge of breakdown because all their players will be playing IPL?

Well marc they got it soughted.
The danger always was those nz players could walk away from nz cricket enmasse.
The nzcb hadled it well i guess.
Still shame their no rd test tho.
Only domestic nz player will be styris, but he hardly gets a game in IPL.

So how come there's a danger that all these NZ players will, yet absolutely no danger that the Aussies will?

Oh, yes, now I see your location 8-)
