And what exactly is the problem with that?Oh christ, the tournament ends 5 days for the T20 WC *facepalm*. Will the real ICC please stand uppp
Wishful thinking. All the Internationals will prefer the IPL to domestic games.Interesting IPL clashes with aussie season, last pura cup round and pura final, don't see any states releasing players for this, and s africa play their domestic cricket to early april,IPL will go into freefall i would suggest.
IPL need NOCs',despite what the player wants.IPL in a bind, also with international clashes too.
This IPL will be a flop.
Nope, with the NOC thing they have no choice now. It's already been said to NZ domestic players that if they have a domestic contract they can't play in the IPL if it ever gets in the way of our cricket.Wishful thinking. All the Internationals will prefer the IPL to domestic games.
So...you'd prefer to play for ND rather than the sham that is the IPL, even though you'd be passing up big money?Nope, with the NOC thing they have no choice now. Our cricket primarily refers to International cricket. There is no way the Boards are going to bar Internationals like McCullum, Oram etc from playing IPL if it is at the cost of domestic cricket.Nope, with the NOC thing they have no choice now. It's already been said to NZ domestic players that if they have a domestic contract they can't play in the IPL if it ever gets in the way of our cricket.
I've been saying this, but it will certainly end up like any other professional league, running about three-four months. I've never heard of a professional league with an 11 month off season. The owners, who've paid tens and up to a hundred million for the franchise, will not stand for it.IPL organisers expand tournament in 2010

Agree here, I have been defending the IPL in the past, but 90 matches is simply not on.No new teams on the way next year, but an increase to 90 matches (with three extra franchises) the year after. There's going to be a huge block of every year taken up with IPL/champions league. I do like it, but not that much.
Doesn't surprise me one bit though, IPL is business venture and making money is the prime objective here, and more games they have, the more money they would make, and its also a matter of time before the IPL starts overshadowing international cricket, because this is where all the big bucks are, and international cricket would soon start losing both big players and sponsors, and if ICC soon doesn't find a way to co-exist with leagues like the IPL, then its very existence could be threatened.IPL organisers expand tournament in 2010

Nah... the number of ODI' and tests that have been played in the last decade would be nothing in comparison to the number of T20's that are likely to be played in the next few years, the problem is too much of the same thing would eventually bore people. There just isn't an overkill of T20s in cricket. It has been an overkill of international cricket itself in the later half of the decade. Maybe there will once again be more anticipation for international matches if the number of international games played are brought down.
At least a week to 10 days minimum to 2 weeks minimum between tournaments, regardless of the short nature. Especially if all the best players from each side are going to participate in it, thats crazy player burnout. And what exactly is the problem with that?
At least it may mean we see players used to the format before the World Cup.
