As was Henry in '99.Wiltord was big money in 2000, as was Reyes.
Haha the glory days of Lazio spending stupid money, Crespo has got to be one of the most overated players I have ever seen, good record for Parma but the guy is crap, not worth half of what Lazio paid for him. Claudio Lopez was always a much better player in my book. The money they shelled out on Mendieta was absolutely farcical as well, esspecially considering how badly he flopped. If you want a good argument for not spending big on transfers then look at Lazio, **** me, I know Arsene not shelling out is a pain, but when you look at what Lazio were and what they are now...blimey.Crespo and Figo were going for 35 million plus at the time so compared to those guys it wasn't. Big for Arsenal though I suppose. Jose's transfer was jacked up with performance based incentives which I'm rather confident we didn't end up paying.
That was in Europe though. In the context of the Premier League that was serious money.Crespo and Figo were going for 35 million plus at the time so compared to those guys it wasn't. Big for Arsenal though I suppose. Jose's transfer was jacked up with performance based incentives which I'm rather confident we didn't end up paying.
Don't think any Arsenal fan is saying they want to become an obscene spending club like that. Just that leaving huge sums of money in the bank when you know your team is in dire need of some quality is completely the wrong path.If you want a good argument for not spending big on transfers then look at Lazio, **** me, I know Arsene not shelling out is a pain, but when you look at what Lazio were and what they are now...blimey.
Yeah I agree with you tbh, was just raising the other argument as a bit of devils advocate. I concur that there is a difference between being shrewd and just being overly cautious, Arsenal entering into the territory of the latter these days. I don't buy anything Arsenal related either tbh, but that's more just through personal choice rather than anything else, didn't even pay for my ticket last time I went.Don't think any Arsenal fan is saying they want to become an obscene spending club like that. If i say it much more I'll be the skipping record on this thread but for the amounts of money the club leech out of their fans, not wanting to compete for players who could improve us just rubs me completely the wrong way. Refusing to buy anything Arsenal related while they keep doing this tbh. Shame because I'd love to get a Wilshere jersey before he ends up changing number in a few years time.
Transilvania. Closer to Budapest than to Moldova.I assume Timisoara are Moldovan?
Couldn't face the first three. Could have got Timisoara, which would have been pot luck.So who would you rather have? Lyon, Stuttgart, Sporting Lisbon, Fiorentina, Atletico Madrid???
Well given how was playing for Tottenham last seaosn he did manage to play a few times more than once a week. But would be rested very soon after extended playing.I wouldn't tbh, but until he can play more than 1 game a week (not going to happen) he's pretty useless from an England point of view.
Same one Villa gave Downing I expect.Aquilani agrees contract for 5 years: AQUILANI AGREES CONTRACT
Although it says he will continue rehab for at least another 4-8 weeks. What kind of medical did they give him?
Yea he would always be back-up to Rio/Terry. Upson ATS once he maintains last seasons standard also, would still be first back-up.There would be no point taking him unless he was able to play every game, otherwise it defeats the point. He would only get in the team if someone else was injured anyway, so taking him when he isn't fit would be completely defeatist.
Would love to see you list these times that he played more than once a week to be honest...Well given how was playing for Tottenham last seaosn he did manage to play a few times more than once a week.
Didn't Veron cost a fortune?Haha the glory days of Lazio spending stupid money, Crespo has got to be one of the most overated players I have ever seen, good record for Parma but the guy is crap, not worth half of what Lazio paid for him.
